I wonder if Mangala is one of those defenders who would look better in a side which puts more emphasis on shape and discipline like Rafa's teams? City remind me a bit of Keegan's teams, great to watch but probably not the easiest to play for as a defender.

Liverpool supporting mates of mine seemed to absolutely hate Sakho's ability on the ball too - I haven't a clue if they're correct or anything - I've always rated him as a really good leader (former PSG captain, right?) and always wished we had signed him (in hindsight) over Mapou.

Sorta, i wouldn't say it's massively awful but he looks a bit uncomfortable on it at times. Taking 2-3 more touches than he should to get it under control etc etc.

If there was ever a single game that sums up Mangala it's Barca away this season. Not a fan of him but Rafa obviously knows what he wants from a CB. Doesn't mean he won't sign duds, mind. Might be harsh to judge him solely on his time at Valencia given their troubles but it's all I have seen of him. Wouldn't be surprised if he was class or utter shit.

He's an uncomfortable player to watch. All arms and legs, his posture makes him look panicky but actually he's generally alright on the ball and has a decent range of passing.

As for Mangala, every time I've seen him he looks utterly brainless. Physically he's ideal for a centre half but during a match he has the look of a man who is wondering whether his wife is looking through his phone.

Isn't Mangala liable for a Bramble style clanger every now and again?

Every one of them are prone to to that. If Bramble had a brain he could have been a force of nature. Not to be though.

It's very easy for good players to get lost at a club like City or Chelsea with unlimited funds.. they know that one or two bad games and they'll just buy someone else.

Here they'll fit in if they show the right attitude.. there's a reason City paid so much for him, just needs to be coaxed out of him in a safer environment.

This Twitter bollocks been mentioned yet?

Can't see us winning any straight fight with the team who'll be playing for the Champions League title.

It's a sharp contrast for sure, but obviously it wouldn't be down to a straight fight if he came here.

first link in google says he's always dreamed of playing in the PL. Also given the amount of racial abuse black players get in Italy I could see why he may want to come here.

Was saying he can still work with Guardiola.  Even though it's clear he isn't fancied at City.

There was those exact same doubts about Clark last season. I know the old 'In Rafa we trust' gets a bit tedious, but he's probably as good a manager as any to give the benefit of the doubt.
