Dwight Gayle (now playing for Hibernian)

Just needs to either play up front or not play, it’s pretty simple.

Correct and have two wingers who can feed the ball into the box. He is not a player who plays on the left or the right he’s a goal scorer only.

Doubt it, whatever you read into the 50k a week he is on, can’t see board handing another contract to him.

Wrong side of 30, and Bruce’s showing this season has only vindicated clubs previous mandate to be wary of over 30s! (Hendrick, deal for Ritchie who doesn’t play, signing of Carroll who’s scored 1 goal and doesn’t play, Shelvey’s goals down yet new deal (board will see goal output vs. cancer we see each week)

After performances this season from him and Carroll the board will override whatever say Snorlax has to say on the matter. No chance Charnley is giving him another deal. Whatever Rafa had to say on him will still be giving him lovers regret. Especially if Bruce relegates us all, even if he’s still in a job any say on a matter will be a cause Bruce shouting from the kids table.

But he is not a goal scorer at this level. As he has proven many times over.

He’s more of a goal scorer than any other player in that team presently though. He’s not going to score from the wing either.

Totally agree, tactics were horrendous last night

New deal for Dwight Gayle — now will he get games?

Uncertainty swirls around Newcastle United at the moment, with Steve Bruce’s side just two points above the Premier League’s relegation zone with nine matches to play. But striker Dwight Gayle has committed his future to the club by signing a new three-year contract on reduced terms.

The 31-year-old’s deal was due to expire on June 30 but he has agreed an extension that will keep him at St James’ Park until the summer of 2024.

Gayle has started only two Premier League matches this season, scoring once against West Brom in a 2-1 win in December, but was selected for Newcastle’s 1-1 draw against Aston Villa earlier this month.

The striker then, however, watched Newcastle’s 3-0 defeat by Brighton from the bench, despite his side’s chronic lack of goals and the absence of the injured Callum Wilson and Allan Saint-Maximin.
