86.5 is the average points total for 2nd place since this guise of the championship came into being 12 years ago. One more win would take us beyond that.  79 points by Stoke in 07/08 was enough but Brighton failed to make the top two with 89 points last year. This weekend will be defining for sure.

Whats the earliest we can be promoted?

Ipswich on Monday if we win our next two and Reading drop points and Huddersfield lose both there games over the weekend.

I'm shite at maths but if we win both games fri and Monday Huddersfield only need to lose one of them?

Edit if we win 2 we are on 90 (91 if you include goal difference) if Huddersfield lose one the most they can get is 89 points

We can only be promoted providing we win both our games, should his happen then Reading will be out of the equation since they would be at least 11 points behind us with only 9 to play for. Huddersfield would only then be able to match our points total if they drew 1 and won one of their games, but with our GD it is 99.9% certain that we would go up. Huddersfield losing only 1 of their games and us winning both would mean that they cannot catch us no matter what.

That's Brighton up, think they'll go on to win the title too. Which is a bit shite, we've dropped too many points from winning positions particularly in the second half of the season.

Ah well, just need to get promotion confirmed then we can enjoy the last couple of matches without any pressure.

Promotion is all that really matters.  Only thing that would piss me off coming second will be the press wank-fest over Brighton and making them sound like some kind of Leicester in beating us to first place.  Fuck em!

How are the matches for the play-off semi's picked?  Is it 3v6 and 4v5 or names out of a hat? Just wondering when/if those teams below will stop chasing 2nd place and concentrate about trying to arrange suitable match-up in the play-offs.

We won't win the league now. Disappointing but promotion is what matters.

If we do our job today then we're still only 2 fucking points behind Brighton man  Not that I care too much about the title, which would just be a bonus really. Just want fucking promotion asap.
