This would be the escape act of all escape acts if they pull it off.

No club deserves to be in the National League more, or less, than Gateshead just depending on which way you look at it :)

The spirit, fight and resolve they show season after season despite the soulless stadium and low crowds is quite amazing.

A lot of football to be played before Easter, but if the fixtures are still relatively live, I'll look to get to Carlisle vs Gateshead on Good Friday and South Shields vs Darlington on Easter Monday.

Carlisle vs Gateshead isn't really a derby, but more significant to me as I live pretty much between both of them, so with both circa 30 miles away, they are both local to me. I much prefer Carlisle and hope they finished 3rd to secure a bye, but if that's looking fairly secure, then I'd probably want Gateshead to win if they are still in with a fighting chance of staying up.

South Shields will be going for the title and Darlington the playoffs, although the latter have lost 3 on the spin, so may well be out of contention by then if their form continues.

Blyth Town and Newton Aycliffe both lost on Tuesday, so not looking good for either. Thankfully Dunston beat Brighouse last night, and the latter also look in big relegation trouble and hard to see any of those 3 surviving, so it's probably 1 from about 4 or 5 to avoid that final relegation spot. Dunston also moved back in to the playoffs positions with that win, so a double bonus.

It's great this time of the year with the games coming think and fast.

What's happened there then?

Feels like they've been all over the place for months if not years and this has been inevitable.  Is it not them that did the sUpPoRt uS oR wE fOlD campaign a couple of years back?  There were rumours last week that they were rebranding as Morpeth Reserves, given that they play at Morpeth now anyway, but I'm not sure whether that would be possible or if they'd have to start in the Northern Alliance, or Tyneside's equivalent of the North Northumberland League, if they did that

Massive win for Gateshead, now only in the relegation zone on GD. Got to play York, Carlisle and Boreham Wood in their next four or five games but well in with a shout when they were absolutely buried before Elliot came back.

Won 1-0. Crazy. After 5 wins in 29, they've now won 5 of their last 9 and only 1 defeat.

A couple of tough games coming up, but some of the teams from 19th up have, or might, be brought into it and Gateshead play 19th place Yeovil soon.

Not sure what's gone wrong at South Shields in the league below. This time only 7 days ago, they were 4 points clear of 2nd placed Fylde, but after only 1 point from their last 3 matches (and 9 for Fylde) they are now 4 points behind as well as an 11 goal GD swing. Shields lost 2-1 at Hereford on Saturday, while the current leaders went their tonight and won 4-1.

Spartans win 3-1 at Brighouse to go 7 pts clear of the drop zone with 6 to go- 4 of those against teams currently below them. Three wins from six should guarantee it.

Cant have been many seasons in the history of football like gateshead this season. Half decent start followed by about 20 losses in a row to then possibly staying up
