1-0 win for Spartans at home to Sisden. Takes them 6 clear of relegation, with 4 to play. Ashington went down 1-0 at Hallam and remain 5 points clear of the drop.

Next up for Spartans - local derby at Blyth Town, on Monday.

Yeah, effectively 7 with the huge GD swing, not helped by Blyth Town losing 7-0 today. Win on Monday and its job done, but realistically, a point should be enough.

Massive boost for all the teams down the bottom in that Ossett United, currently just above the drop, lost against rock bottom Brighouse, who it felt had lost about 9 in a row. Blyth Town were battered today, but, ironically, the table is probably looking a bit better for them than it was 3 hours ago, due to that surprise Ossett result.

Very big game on Monday.

500 there to watch a bad tempered 1-1 between Newbiggin and Alnwick on Groundhopper Day. Terrible ground for the organisers to choose but all the hoppers seemed to have a nice day anyway (until it started to rain and they all fucked off)

Not seen much of Newbiggin's ground - isn't it tagged on to the sports centre?

Aye, just through the sports centre and out the back. It's like a horse field, probably was one not too long ago.  Only access to two sides, not much hard stand, not really even up to NL standards. I mean, not everyone can have an old ground with a bit of character like Seaham, Tow Law, Alnwick or Sunderland RCA but I can't believe the ground hop day organisers picked that one like

Amazing crowd 1,235.

That should be about £10k in entry fee’s for the club.

You’d like to think that a fair few drinks and snacks were sold as well.

Sadly, too many of these soulless sports centre grounds entering the NL while great old grounds like Ferryhill, Willington, Brandon etc and more modern classics like Durham City have left. It definitely detracts from the NL day out experience

Sunderland West End winding up apparently so that's a start - a team that only existed to play at a terrible 3G hub they didn't own and with, as far as I could see, no actual fans at all.

They'll have picked it largely because a lot of hoppers will have already done a lot of the other historic NL grounds. Theres 12 games over the long weekend.

True enough but it also has to be said that the financials often stack up much better for small clubs if you're sharing a multi-use facility and if you have an artificial surface.

2,300+ at Sheffield FC today for the Royal Oak v Nags Head thing pushed by the Steve Bracknall character.

Whilst the character is a bit annoying, Jon McClure (aka "Paul Sampson") is a great bloke and him getting involved at Sheffield as Chairman can only be a good thing for non-league.

Plenty of big matches tomorrow in steps 1-4, many of them derbies.

Gateshead vs Scunthorpe

South Shields vs Darlington

Hebburn vs Stockton

Morpeth vs Whitby

Ashington vs Heaton (1pm)

Newton Aycliffe vs Dunston

Blyth Town vs Blyth Spartans

Consett vs Bishop Auckland

I know some on here are planning on going to the Blyth match. Anyone else planning on going to one. York, Scarborough and Redcar Ath are all also at home for those looking to go a bit further away.

South Shields match for me.

Went a few years ago when Workington played Benfield in the FA Cup. Agree it's a great old ground with very passionate fans. Will be a sad day when it's gone.

Anyway Blyth Town v Blyth Spartans for me today to complete 3 games in 4 days.

Went to the bishop Auckland v Garforth town match on Saturday. Bishop Secured a much needed win. Probably the most interesting part of the match was the two coach loads of Manchester United fans who came from Manchester.

2-0 Heed now. A lot of the teams near them seemingly winning as it stands too so very important. Playing against ten men now as well.

Currently 3miles away from Harrogate stadium. Can hear Bristol Rovers fans clear as day.

Think they will be done after next week unless they pull out a result Vs Newport.
