Kid Icarus
Tbf to Murphy, he was targeted more than anyone in terms of pressing, without much support at all, and his options were often back down the line to a (being pressed) Krafth, or blindly inside hoping that Longstaff would be there. Smal
Yeah, Gordon was playing very narrow and Murphy was picking the ball up in right back positions. He never had a passing option available to him apart from going back to Dubravka, which nobody wants to see.
huss9
its hard to look decent when there'e never a decent pass on or movement in front of you. especially when you're playing out of position

Hes too weak, needs to bulk up or something It should have been the usual 4-3-3 with Tino at RB. I don't know what Howe sees in him. He's 29 so way past the "bulk up" phase of his career. Good round the dressing room though, just like Ritchie, Dummet and Krafth.
buzza
Murphy, ritchie, dummet, krafth, targett, almiron and, at a shove, longstaff, will all need to be moved on sooner rather than later and replaced with much higher quality players. I genuinely feel for the lad, he was good enough in the Ashley era i.e. bottom third of the prem, but he is way no where near for where we want to be. Not just the stats either - the way he pulled it back today rather than taking a shot on was so intelligent, just can’t see miggy doing those things. Numbers
Him and Longstaff are exactly the kind of player we need to get shot of if we want to push on.

Joelinton7
3 assists in 2 games. He is the perfect squad player. Doesn’t cause problems, boosts morale of fans and teammates. Contributes when asked and pushes the levels of those ahead of him. When we were sending him out of loan to WBA and Sheff Wed I thought he was a goner, just didn’t see him carving out anything like the career he’s had here. Newcastle Fan
definitely a player worth keeping and i would say we can let Almiron go and have him as our option down the right, he can cover multiple positions there and his end product has improved this season, i think he has better stats than alot of the leagues expensive wingers (Grealish, Antony and the rest..) gbandit
He’s an odd player, I’ll give him that. He’s actually a very decent crosser of the ball and he made some very good decisions today. I don’t always think he makes good decisions though. He’s improved a huge amount under Howe and still seems to be growing in confidence. Can’t fault his desire, do find him frustrating in a number of ways fairly often but maybe being a backup option is his future here and one where he’ll continue to be valuable
