Hmm, maybe, less likely if we watched him for the full 90 minutes.

A bit like MBuemo, that some here desperately seem to want

The longer opposition players and managers think Murphy is crap and offers nothing the more we’ll benefit from him. I’d rather some of our own fans didn’t think that but that’ll clearly never change at this point.

I do feel for him a bit like. He obviously has his limitations, but his bottom line is seriously impressive and has been decent for ages. That knockdown for Isak as well man. 👌

He's sometimes painful to watch as a footballer, but this season has been a success and he's played his part. Not a great footballer, but that right foot is a bit of a wand.

Games are decided in moments not 90mins. Especially in the final third. I get what you mean though.

Actually thought if Bruno hadn’t under hit a lot of through balls he’d of walked off HT having a great half. He made some really intelligent runs around the fullback but wasn’t found.

This is a great point, if you watch Murphy over a full game he often incites frustration from a lot of fans as you will see some of his bad moments.

The thing is it’s his good moments that often literally define results for us for this season. Hes pretty insane value for money, if the sort of £30-40k range is accurate.. I’m not sure there’s another player in the league this season that has provided the output he has relative to his cost.

Laurent Robert had great goals and assists but contributed little defensively. Is that much different to what Murphy is when he has hit and miss games? I am maybe comparing chalk and cheese here and I'm aware Robert was a lot more exciting to watch!

Murphy is a randomiser, you never know if he’s going to drop a great cross in or smash a strike off his laces, or lose the ball in his own half trying to pass three yards. The one thing he’s consistent on is that he’s terrible at winning 50-50s

Always remember the corner fuming at Robert for just letting Bernard overlap and not making any attempt to support him every single game. Still love the man though.

I hear that a bit and i always argue that i think since he popped his shoulder twice he now tries to be smarter when possible in his physical duels leading him to lose out a fair bit. He was never the strongest or bravest i agree but do feel it’s forgotten what happened and probably worried how easily it could happen again.

Better return than Madueke who we were heavily linked - and Madueke scored 3 against 1 team. Happpy for Murphy - he's getting results but his game is still extremely limited so I suspect Howe has just told him to stick to what he's good at.

I’m happy with Murphy being in the 1st XI for a number of reasons, and I never thought that would be the case even a year ago. However, we need depth desperately.

My mind shift has moved from an out and out replacement, but it’s definitely a prime spot for a big upgrade. I want Murphy to still be involved heavily on current form and attitude. He offers so much on and off the pitch.

I think Murphy won't let up in the slightest if and when we get a truly top class starter for RW. He'd keep doing his best on and off the field and be happy for the club, in fact.

He's done magnificently this season. He's obviously got his limitations, but he's never played so productively for so long before. He's a starter on merit for us in our first trophy winning season in decades.

To be fair ... Chelsea play don't play with the same urgency we do.

They hired one of Peps disciples, from the control freaks school of football, and so they recycle side to side to side to side to side ... over and over again.

It's even affected Palmer's production and impact on games.

Yeah not really sold on Maresca at all, mental they're challenging us for CL when IMO they haven't been great

Yeah, just hope we can finish strong and see them off.

That Pep style of football really needs a very high calibre of top technical and cerebral players to really flourish. As it requires players that can creat chances in very tight spaces, as the build up is so slow and looks to pin teams back in a low block.

Funnily enough, I don't think Man City have done a great job of getting players good enough to replace the likes of David Silva, DeBruyne, Gundogan, Mahrez and Bernardo as they have left or got older.

Could see them continue to struggle if they don't figure that out too.

He's a legend. Don't give a shit if everyone hates him. He puts numbers on the board that matter.

Who hates him? He's been fantastic this season and has been consistent for far longer. He's got his limitations but what player doesn't.
