His spell at Wolves then when he’s been rolled out at Man City is more than Sporting and easily enough for someone to judge him. If anything it’s more one good season in Portugal that we’ve seen LOADS of times from players moving from there. Pretty sure he played two full seasons at Sporting. He was at Wolves for only one season and showed flashes when he was there, despite people pretending he was rubbish there. The Man City move was a bad one for him. We've seen Pep so this sort of thing before. Claiming Rogers is ten times the player he is, is laughable, and was what I responded to in the first place. Never mind the fact my original comment had nothing to do with who was better, as I said they were a similar profile, making the reply and comment even more ridiculous. Why can't they just get over the fact there's a way more glamarous and successful club than them? Talk of him changing his shirt to “Trent” as part of the marketing move. I know exactly why I responded to TCD the way I did, and that's between me and him. Quite frankly, it's really none of your business, and so I'd appreciate it if you mind your own business and stop sticking your nose in.

Optimistic Nut
13 minutes ago, Sibierski said: Rutter was nearing £40m. They’ve shifted from £10m signings to £25m where the chances of turning profit on those players when signing at 24/25 is heavily reduced unless they are proper standout. Like O’Riley, Kadiogou, Wiffer are nearly £80m and not players you expect them to make profits on. That's sort of what I'm getting at though? All 3 of those are punts. If they smashed it, they'd double their money in a year or two. They've been caught up by the likes of Bournemouth & Brentford who have similar ways of going about things. Palace do it slightly differently mixing up young English potential and signing the odd generational talent like Eze, but they're probably on a similar level. West Ham will likely come back to at least a mid-table side again next year, Everton's new stadium and revenue might give them a boost to climb out of that 14-17th rung. It's not unique what they do anymore. Seen it so often with the likes of Swansea & Southampton where they look mid-table or slightly better, get it wrong one year and it's all undone. They're at a stage now where £50m or so on Watkins will improve them. Just feel they're in danger of those clubs I've mentioned overtaking them or at least matching them and they drop 5-6 places in the table pretty rapidly over the course of a season or two. gbandit
I agree, they need a bit of a marquee signing in a striker position. Buying a striker is pretty much the hardest position to fill and usually very difficult to do cheaply. If they got it right then they could get a top five spot

My point was more signing 25yr olds for £25m isn’t really with a view of trading profits, it’s a shift in policy to signing players differently to what they’ve done before to kick on. Signing likes of Baleba are with a view of profits, likes of O’Riley are not. So them moving to signing Watkins type of signings are already being done by them (I.e. ready made and played many games in Europe / European domestic leagues) It’s like us signing Barnes isn’t with an eye for profit, it’s for the output in the immediate. Agree they will be caught up, because every club in their bracket will have an off season or two and drop off. Wolves and Leicester of recent years are two examples. Sibierski
Speaking of Brighton, wonder where James Milner goes in summer? Would’ve become all time appearances in prem this season hadn’t he got injured. Would Leeds want him on a one year deal?

Maybe, just maybe Rogers is playing for a damned good manager in a pretty good team better suited to his play style. Switch Rogers and Nunes situations around and let's see how they both look then. When Nunes was 24 and Rogers was 19? Can't imagine why. At the same age Nunes was playing in the Portuguese 2nd Division. Nunes has never performed in the PL. He got a move to Man City based off his previous reputation in Portugal. Didn’t deliver at Wolves, hasn’t delivered for Man City. From day one in the PL Rogers has stood out and became a key player for Emery immediately.
