I know we wouldn't be able to afford his wages, but just because he's in his thirties, doesn't mean he turns to shit. I'm 45, and could easily play at Europa League level. Probably because I'm extremely handsome and modest.

We can't afford to sign players who don't have resale value unfortunately.

Agreed even our good older players we need to decide how many just stay here forever and we recoup no fee.

Barnes 28

Joelinton 29 - 30 in August

Bruno 28

All young lads but in footballing terms you start reducing the transfer fee you can get based on their ages.

We all know we cant keep everyone but becoming better sellers and knowing when to sell is something the club haven't quite learned.

We already seem committed to  BDB,schar, lacelles, kraft and trips and possibly Murphy never getting a fee back for them. They were all bought for relatively low fees but will need replacing and all you saved were their wages.

Still hoping some of the under 21/under 19 purchased we started to make last few years some make it to plug the holes.

What you've mentioned is an issue I've been highlighting for sometime. Ultimately replacing the players who we are going to let leave for free is going to be really expensive and a massive impediment for us. It's one of the reasons why I'm massively concerned about squad cost our amortization will be through the roof.

This summer is going to feel like a cross roads.

Its why if we now appear to be looking to taking gambles on sub 30m players (from transfer rumours) who are young with high potential its going to stretch our money/budget.

We either carry on  as we are and do a big sale every year and you run the risk of having no high value saleable assets and the model fails or we try and buy and if they dont work they arent in as much of a price bracket to hurt us.

Both have risk and reward but the latter is the more sustainable model. Ideally some academy success would also come in handy soon even if its just to sell to reinvest.

Let’s replace him asap if we can afford it.

It’s what I would do in our current position. I don’t know the intricacies of our financial position and where the Isak sale leaves us, especially with a big outlay in the summer. However, taking a loss on Elanga makes sense to me if we can find a player to come in who’s effective at RW. It’s such a key position for us. Unfortunately, I think there’s zero chance of it happening. We sold Lloyd because we made money off it. I think we’d struggle to get a £40m buyer for Elanga

Maybe we'll get lucky and fleece Liverpool for more money...

That’s an Eddie Howe winger if I’ve ever seen one.

Murphy moved to RB.

we tried to sign him twice when he was at Forest, Howe (Andy) tried to get him to Bournemouth as well.

I can’t see us going off him now mind.

We did? Didn't hear this. Andy Howe wasn't in a position of authority at Bournemouth so I think you mean he recommend him? This must have been when Forest were in the Champo mind.

Last thing we need is another wide man with questionable mentality who struggles to impact games.

For real. In a perfect world we'd have someone in the vein of Semenyo, Mbuemo. Failing that, something profile-wise like Estevao or even Akliouche.

The single attribute they all share (in my mind) is fearlessness. From that attribute plus their footballing quality comes playmaking and creation.

Hard to say what our transfer strategy will be in the short term with injuries, shortfalls in fullback and iffy goalkeeping. Hopefully we'll be looking to upgrade offensively sooner or later, even if that means moving Gordon on or similar.
