6th choice or not. We play 3 CM’s. So 1-2 injuries or suspensions and he’d be starting games if we’re in Europe and stay in cups. He’s shown he’s not really the sort to just play here and there or come on and impact a game. Plus he is also only really suited to a certain style and against certain opposition.

It sounds incredibly harsh to type it out. But we’ve moved past players like Longstaff IMO. At least we should have, if we want to progress to that next level.

I hate all the PSR stuff and don’t fully understand it. But it’s also the last window to get any money for him, he gets us pure profit and he turns 28 in October.

Not sure why anyone would want him to stay other than sentimentality and because he’s a local lad. Unlike Burn, who has gone from strength to strength. It feels a bit like Longstaff has regressed/we’ve progressed and he’s stayed the same.

I think the only way I’d consider keeping him is if we’re going big in the summer so we’re restricted by PSR and we only qualify for the conference league. There’ll be loads of shit games in that and we’ll need bodies for it.

We need a RW, CB, Striker and maybe even a full back of Trippier doesn’t stay. It could be hard to upgrade Longstaff if we go hard on the other positions.

Europa League or Champions League then he’s got to be upgraded also or we’ll suffer.

Guy single handedly won us our first domestic cup in 70 years and we're just desperately trying to sell him...

Look what happened when we could of sold Callum, would of helped us out, need to shift players, can't keep going in the manner we are.

We all know it but I think tonight might have been the ultimate evidence of how we've moved on from the likes of Longstaff, and he really needs to move on for the good of his career. After watching Tonali and Bruno move the ball around the pitch with style and quality, to Longy failing to get the ball out of his feet comfortably, was such a contrast.

It would be really cool to see him go abroad to a slower paced league. There's still a career for him in a top division, he just has to be a regular starter. And his place in the NUFC history books is assured; he contributed a lot between 22-24.

He's pap, always has been, but I respect how hard he's worked during a really grim time for the club.

I think his career has already peaked with playing in the PL really, but Yorkie is right that he could maybe find more comfort playing in a slower league away from the limelight.

I've always been a big defender of Sean but I do think he's reaching a natural endgame here. Perfect time to move on this summer, I still think he'd be a great addition for a bottom-half side and could establish himself in one of those teams.

A very eloquent way to put it. Some of the shite that gets hoyed at him is unnecessary. 5 nil up and he's getting flack. I still think he will come good though.

Only negative for me tonight was Longstaff and Wilson coming on over Miley and Osula/Neave.

It isn’t as if either are going to bring us in a decent fee in the summer and they’ve done nothing to suggest they have a role to play between now and May.

Sean should be coming on in the 95th minute against Everton in May to say goodbye and that’s that.

Think his confidence is completely shot now and probably won't get it back with the people who love to jump on every mistake he makes as though its something personal he did to them. Hopefully he gets a good move in the summer.

I don't get this at all. It's nothing personal, he's just not very good at football.

It was the same with Murphy and Pope earlier in the season. People don't realise how much their actions in the crowd can affect players.

It's an issue when most what he does is sub par its not about not seeing the good it's the lack of it present.

To be fair I appreciated the pass out to the wing but other than that it was alot of mistimed, misplaced akward moments on the ball.

He's seen his boyhood club lift a trophy and he contributed to it.

Hope he moves on as we as a team already have.

It's been a similar story the other times he has come in recently but he failed to control the ball 3-4 time s before finally getting it and making a successful pass.

Also wasn't a total surprise to see when they nearly scored at the end that it was him who slipped.

He is just not good at coming on from the bench it seems. Not trying to knock him, but don't really understand the logic of him or Wilson coming in ahead of the young lads, their careers are coming to an end here and we need to give minutes to the future potential stars.

You said that about Murphy

I don’t get moaning at the ground at our own players personally. In the history of football there are very few examples of when it’s been productive

I think Sean is a classic case of needing a run of games. He comes good two or three full matches in. Sub appearances aren’t his move. He’s a decent squad player but I fear he’ll be moved on soon.

I'd agree with this, however I still think we should be bringing on Milley and Osalu rather than Longstaff and Wilson
