Only negative for me tonight was Longstaff and Wilson coming on over Miley and Osula/Neave.

It isn’t as if either are going to bring us in a decent fee in the summer and they’ve done nothing to suggest they have a role to play between now and May.

Sean should be coming on in the 95th minute against Everton in May to say goodbye and that’s that.

Think his confidence is completely shot now and probably won't get it back with the people who love to jump on every mistake he makes as though its something personal he did to them. Hopefully he gets a good move in the summer.

I don't get this at all. It's nothing personal, he's just not very good at football.

It was the same with Murphy and Pope earlier in the season. People don't realise how much their actions in the crowd can affect players.

It's an issue when most what he does is sub par its not about not seeing the good it's the lack of it present.

To be fair I appreciated the pass out to the wing but other than that it was alot of mistimed, misplaced akward moments on the ball.

He's seen his boyhood club lift a trophy and he contributed to it.

Hope he moves on as we as a team already have.

It's been a similar story the other times he has come in recently but he failed to control the ball 3-4 time s before finally getting it and making a successful pass.

Also wasn't a total surprise to see when they nearly scored at the end that it was him who slipped.

He is just not good at coming on from the bench it seems. Not trying to knock him, but don't really understand the logic of him or Wilson coming in ahead of the young lads, their careers are coming to an end here and we need to give minutes to the future potential stars.

You said that about Murphy

I don’t get moaning at the ground at our own players personally. In the history of football there are very few examples of when it’s been productive

I think Sean is a classic case of needing a run of games. He comes good two or three full matches in. Sub appearances aren’t his move. He’s a decent squad player but I fear he’ll be moved on soon.

I'd agree with this, however I still think we should be bringing on Milley and Osalu rather than Longstaff and Wilson

He was part of the group that turned shit around for us. So im thankful for his service here and no hard feelings from me even though i have been critical earlier.

Clearly time to move on now and I hope he finds a club where he can fulfill his potential.

This team is evolving, the ceiling is being raised so high that it's painfully obvious when you see a player who is no longer "Newcastle quality". We're now operating at a level that's beyond Longstaff.

I'll always be grateful for his efforts, especially during the dark Bruce days and all the shit he went through because of that slug.

He's more than good enough for the majority of PL teams, so I hope he gets a good move but if we are gonna be the team we think we can be, Longstaff isn't good enough to be a part of it

Im not sure he should go to another PL club. Think maybe he needs some without having all that pressure on him. If he gets off to a bad start and the fans turn against him its hard to see him come back from that.

Had a weird dream last night that we sold him in summer (club wasn’t in the dream), but when he came back he scored, done the lawnmower celebration and fans were going mental :D

It’s more the floor than the ceiling which is affecting Sean unfortunately.

I try not to moan at him in the ground.

I did say that about Murphy, but if there’s anyone here who believed he could reach the levels he’s at now I would like to meet them. Possibly Eddie Howe is the only man alive who thought that.

This. People forget he started the season well and put in some very solid performances.

He’s obviously not world class but is such a canny lad with no ego; puts the team first and won’t kick up a fuss if he’s not starting. Doesn’t deserve the hate he’s getting.

I agree with the sentiments that he struggles more coming off the bench it seems, as it looks like it takes a while for him to get up to speed with things when he comes on.

He's not going to have the opportunity to start games or play as many minutes as he has previously when he was starting, and so can't see things getting better, if he needs major minutes to get into a rhythm.

There's been a nervous, panicky feeling about his play when he comes on recently that is really uncomfortable to watch.

Shame he can't figure out a way to adjust to coming off the bench and being more of a squad player, as he could have been a solid no nonsense player to throw on to tighten things up and just keep things simple in possession, but he's even struggling with those basics.

Time for him to move on, he isn't good enough now.

Miley should be getting his minutes on the pitch as well as he is the one that can improve.

Well you’ve met me plenty of times? ;)

How many times did i tell you? Best crosser of the ball at the club particularly on the run. Cannon of a shot just needed to avoid hitting post every time. One of fastest players in the club. Eye for a defence splitting pass. “Give him a clearly defined role in the team that simplifies his game and with his unselfishness he will create chances and score a few goals”.

He’s never going to be a skilful winger that can dribble, nor a physical one that can bully full backs. His future replacement might be able to do all that too but there might be trade offs too. Wingers will be wingers. History proves that.

Not really disagreeing that the midfield we are trying to construct has outgrown Longstaff. However surviving a relegation and having a more disciplined structure whilst we tried to win games with clean sheets getting us to 4th he was a very big part of that. With more support from the crowd he had the potential to build on that a bit further if not loads further.

Sadly his confidence from lack of crowd support has gone now and his last few appearances usually coming on after Miley are those of a player who knows their time is up. Which is a shame for a local lad living his dream also watching Murphy finally being embraced. To get us up to 10/11th from near relegation then 4th and then 7th in a depleted midfield, first cup final in 20+years. He must’ve been doing something well.

Hopefully the fans can bring themselves to give him a good send off likely against Everton and thank him for working with the club and hopefully getting us some PSR leverage.
