Cf
Why does he get hit in the head what seems like every game? Does he just lack some basic survival instinct gene or something?

Absolutely, he looked dazed and he didn't understand the ref's instruction that he had to go off the pitch, he clearly wasn't right
alexf
Yeah said to the Mrs. When the ref was asking him to step off the pitch he looked like he didn't know where he was. That was evidence enough to me that he needed to be off immediately. The goal could have happened anyways but it was possible that his bizarre decision to leave Rashford unmarked on the penalty spot was related. But the goal is irrelevant. The wellbeing of your players should take priority.

B) We're noticing them more because they're having worse impacts on him than a typical player. Edited September 19, 2025 by

He's always been prone to head bangs but he seems to be getting hurt worse and worse by - relatively - lesser and lesser things. Not a good sign. Such a serious thing that’s been downplayed for so long. One I remember was the England rugby player Shontayne Hape. Kept getting concussed and was forced to retire: https://www.seriousaboutrl.com/ex-bradford-bulls-star-shontayne-hape-living-with-shocking-brain-injuries-50139/amp/ The Dallas Cowboys documentary has part of an episode on Troy Aikman and his 10 concussions he had in his career: https://www.si.com/nfl/2015/03/26/troy-aikman-chris-borland-concussions#:~:text=The testing took three to,I would some other sports.”

I've noticed in the last few years my resistance to injuries is sliding massively. Doing the same things that I used too but.. I can't do it without issues,

Kid Icarus
Don't believe for a second he'd have ever left a striker in the box like that if he hadn't been knocked out. Up until then he was rolling back the years.
joeyt
Was it a concussion sub? Surprised we didn't utilise our extra sub if it was (assuming that's the rules in Europe too)

wyn davies
Schar needs a few weeks off to protect him from himself, Thaiw and Bottman had it sorted, therefore protect Schar, decisions need to be taken from him and others injured on the field if shot. STM
Honestly it could be a good thing for the team. Schar has been class but we need to see if players like Thiaw can step up.

wormy
As much as I'll always miss him in the XI, good that he's missing some games. I know the weekly Schar head injury has been a running joke for years now but it is pretty worrying how many blows he's taken, especially as he's rarely gone off for them and just continued as normal. Absolute joke that he was allowed to continue last night.
r0cafella
Not sure missing our best defender is good mind, massive pressure on Thiaw now unless Sven gets the nod. Edited September 19, 2025 by r0cafella

It is, I just think Bournemouth away is a really bad game to throwing Thiaw into. You'd want to rest Burn midweek so do going roll the dice and ask Botman to play twice in a week? El Prontonise
Botman + Burn is 2 left footed players which isn't perfect.

BlueStar
We should use his head's supernatural gravitational pull to our advantage and put him on the back post for corners. Or advance medical science by loaning him out to a CTE study.
