At his unveiling at the Sports Direct Arena, he allegedly whipped off his Lonsdale tracksuit top and proceeded to right hook the police horse who was casually grazing on the pitch. Upon celebrating the clean knockout of the horse, he ran to the Gallowgate end to celebrate the momentous occasion with the Toon faithful. However, since protests against Ashley's dictatorship were ongoing outside the stadium, none were present. He went on to gain legendary status at the club after scoring 8 goals over the next 3 seasons, including an injury time equalizer against fierce rivals Sunderland in League 1. However, as a professional footballer on a team with a lot of international and Spanish speaking players, including a Spanish speaking coach, and substantial resources from the Club, Almiron never really needed to learn English.
