Raconteur
Who is supposed to score the goals then Steve? Lascelles hasn't chipped in yet. Maybe if he chipped in on Joelinton's jaw, we'd be sorted?
geordie john
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-8028699/Steve-Bruce-admits-40m-Joelinton-not-like-strikers-interested-scoring.html 'The great strikers, the goalscorers, all they're interested in is scoring a goal - Joe is not like that,' said Bruce. 'He certainly hasn't got that mentality. He is more a team player.' So he's admitted that the £40 million striker he personally approved of signing, actually isn't a striker at all. Yet he plays him as an out and out striker. Words fail me. This gormless cunt is beyond belief.
BlueStar
Because of the problems we've had (with injuries) then we've had to use him as a No.9 HE IS THE NUMBER NINE YOU WALLOP
LoveItIfWeBeatU
How extraordinary is Joelinton's lack of goals considering the number of minutes he has played and the fact he is played up front? I seriously think we'd have probably got more goals from playing almost anyone else from the squad upfront.
Tribesman
Bruce says Joelinton is tired and struggling with a thigh injury yet still insists on starting him. It might not be effective, but with no strikers he could try Almiron on the left wing, Saint Maximin through the middle and Lazaro where it is supposed to be his favoured position on the right wing. TBG
Call me crazy for siding with a world class manger with trophies to back that up, but maybe, just maybe Rafa was right in thinking the money was better spent elsewhere.

geordiedean
I still struggle to comprehend how it's even possible for a 40m striker to have only scored 1 league goal in nearly 30 games especially how much time hes had on the pitch The guy isn't even a footballer this deal stinks to high heaven Nickson,Chsrnley and Ashley all got fingers in dirty pies here
LoveItIfWeBeatU
I think if we'd played one of our centre backs up front all season they'd probably have scored more.
toontownman
I liked when in the 25th minute Bruce already gave up and just moved ASM into the middle because Joelinton was constantly out wide. Fuck. I still think with an actual set of coaches and manger he could be ok. We do have talent in our squad just absolute shitehousery in charge. You can play as many games as you like, without the ball you can't score. Even Paul Merson was saying that today when they were talking about it. When he's talking more sense, it's not a good reflection on you.
AY
He has been poor of course, but the role he has been playing is impossible. Our midfield 2 today was like 40 yards away, and there are no one running in behind. There really is not a player who would do well in that situation. ASM and Almiron are playing too wide and there seems to be no chemistry between the three. And most likely there is not a common language either if Joelinton doesn't speak English. The real problem is there is no football coherence at all between the players. It's like 11 players who are all just doing their own stuff like they are getting no instruction at all. As a result we lose the ball before we get over the halfway line, let along fashion any credible chances.

I mean, our non-league team has some sort of combinations. There seems to have no tactic where to pass and from where we are supposed to create openings. Give it to Saint-Maximin and hope. Like Souness all over again. 10 people standing and Dubs (Given) doing his best to keep the score low.
