Assuming ‘a few weeks’ is 3 weeks and 6 games, he’ll have missed 51 games since the start of 2023-24. Only Callum Wilson and Sven Botman have missed more for us in that period through injury.

The man started 4 games in 12 days.

Yep. And it goes under the radar a bit how much of a crock he is.

And how much better we are as a team when he's on song.  He's played well recently so this is a blow - we've not a like for like replacement.

It's easy to see why he picks up injuries given how he plays.

Frustrating timing though, tomorrow is the ideal type of game for him.

I agree and he has been better recently but that replacement you’ve mentioned that we don’t have should’ve been signed. That’s another topic though. A blow to lose him, again, especially due his recent showings but given his current injury record it’s hardly a surprise.

I personally find the Ramsey signing strange as to your point he wasn't the type midfielder we were crying out for.

And plenty on here were saying we need to manage his minutes so he doesn’t break down and he is fit and firing. Not playing through various niggles, like a lot of seasons.

Straight after returning from…. a groin injury. I’m assuming it’s the same one that has gone again? He then started 7 out of 8 games in 27 days. Oh and the one he didn’t start, he still played 50 minutes plus added time. As it went to extra time and pens.

I often think plenty on here complain about injuries through hindsight. Like a knock or an impact injury proves their point and they shouldn’t have been playing. But this is nothing like that. It was obvious and everyone was saying it BEFORE it even happened and before he had starting playing so many minutes.

I thought Howe was rotating quite well earlier in the season. I know injuries have fucked us in certain areas. But it’s like he’s back to his tried and tested best XI / 13 or so that he chooses from. Then just roll with that every 3-4 days.

So we have 9 healthy players competing for 7 spots now?

And of those:

Trippier just returned from injury and doesn't have the legs to play 90mins, let alone 2 games a week.

Burn just returned from injury.

Botman just returned from injury.

Lewis Hall has played 14 games in two months after returning from injury.

Thiaw, Tonali and Bruno has played A LOT of minutes for club and country this season.

Ramsey isn't being trusted.

No warning sign here guys, will be just fine without any additions this window.

Rock and a hard place really. I'm not going to over-defend whatever our rotation policy is because the injuries and fatigue speak for themselves, but every game is so crucial and he's been brilliant recently, and provides something no one else in the squad does, so I get why he's played.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if we basically collect an injury a game for the foreseeable. The schedule is absolute lunacy and this ridiculous CL format is more than accountable. Two absolutely stinking cup draws too.

Clearly the manager and staff share some accountability as well.

For FUCK sake.

He's been great recently.

He’d previously been carrying a bit of a groin strain/issue apparently. When he was off key for a bit, on the bench or not in the squad. Presumably this is a recurrence or full expression of whatever was going on.

Villa just got a good Brazilian midfielder in today, pity we are just sitting on our arse hoping we can muddle through until the end of the season.

Isn't that why we signed Ramsey though? CM we are pretty well covered at the moment, might change if Willock is sold this month I suppose.
