Allan Saint-Maximin (now playing for Fenerbahce, on loan from Al-Ahli)

This guy always seems to take ages to recover, and even when he's back fit it takes him a fair while to get back up to speed again.

Agree with Kaka ideally we need two wingers. You can't rely on him to stay fit at all and just view it as a bonus when he is.

We need to view him as another Callum Wilson at this point. He's fragile.

Need to go with the same approach we had in the striker position. Need a first team level left winger to come in.

We do need two new wingers but ASM has played in 35, 25 and 26 PL matches for us. That's almost 29 games per season on average. The three seasons before joining us he played 34, 30 and 34 games in Ligue 1. It's frustrating that he's injured but this feels a bit like re-writing history after a frustrating set of results.

Much better than Fraser going forward that’s for sure. Never sure how ASM would perform against a team that sits in, much better in an open attacking game from both sides, but course he’d have had an impact more than Fraser did.

ASM last season, would have got little joy today but the Maxi we witnessed before injury could have unlocked them.

Need a first choice winger who can play right side in Jan.

When Wilson is fit Isak will be the right sided forward.

Trippier himself said e has the skills to play anywhere so you can stick your statistics up your arse. As if the history of a 22 year old determines their future.

Nah, because when he comes back he takes a while to get back up to speed, and then people are always wondering if he's fit yet.

We can't rely on him to the extent we do right now it's ridiculous. We need to find someone that can seriously challenge him in that position.

Of course but I also think it's kneejerking to say he is as unreliable as Wilson when he has played 34, 30, 34, 26, 25 and 35 league games during his career so far. Could get more fragile with age but he's still relatively young.

He’s built a bit different from the average footballer so it’s never going to be straight forward with him.

He gets hacked down in almost every game he plays too.. it’s going to add up over time.

Were going to have to develop a style of play where our players don’t need to work as hard to retain possession, and say for the likes of Maxi.. he should really be just breaking the line initially.. passing to someone who can carry the ball to the box and then join in again. He’s always doing too much and it’s not sustainable.

If absolutely nothing else, his presence on the pitch causes the opposition to reinforce their right hand side, opening up space elsewhere.

And now that we play more on the front foot and have more possession of the ball this should really work even more to our advantage.

Despite the massive investment in the last couple of windows since the takeover, one or two injuries to key players, and we are still struggling. January will be interesting as I would think this time we will make signing quality wide men a priority, and hopefully a midfieder as well. Fraser and Almiron should be on the bench at best, and Murphy shouldn't be anywhere near that either.

Desperate for him back.

Actually, I wouldn't be concerned if Wilson is back and Isak switches to the left. And yes, he gets switched to the right when ASM returns. I don't care that he's our record signing, he's still very young, and he's the new lad, so he takes his chance when he gets it.

I can't see it taking long for him to rise to the challenge, but he needs that challenge at this stage of his careeer.

See the Chronicle claiming he basically destroyed the world 10K record

"Nonetheless, Newcastle's talisman sharing an encouraging video running on the treadmill this morning. The 25-year-old was dripping with sweat as he posted a video of a 10.85km run in the impressive time of 27.44 minutes."
