Various: N-O has lost the plot over potential end of Mike Ashley's tenure

Recommended Posts

Richard Masters giving PL restart evidence tomorrow in front of John Nicholson and Giles Watling. Both members of the DCMS Committee and both critics of the takeover!

There's every chance that they will abuse their power to switch the line of questioning to put a negative spin on the takeover proceedings which will create national negative headlines!

Every chance they won't.

Why? Is there protocol that doesn't allow digression?

It's supposed to be a confidential deal with NDAs signed. If they do mention it, then Masters SHOULD straight away tell them that.

In parliament there is a law where you are free from any restrictions that limit what you say. It’s how it was revealed that Giggs has an affair with his brothers wife.

They are free to ask but Masters is under no obligation to answer...unless of course he wants to put more pressure on the takeover and will use this opportunity to voice his opinion.....not sure why mind!

Anything he says would only put himself under more pressure.

He just says he can't discuss and it's not part of this review quite simple.

Doubt we’ll hear anything tomorrow if Masters is giving evidence at the DCMS Committee....he won’t want to have to explain to them whatever the decision would have been.....earliest we’ll hear owt will be Wednesday.

Some Wednesday, at some point, maybe.

Where’s this 8 months nonsense coming from ?

Southampton takeover took that long after appeal.

It’ll be interesting to see how long the Qatari takeover of Leeds United takes to get approved, especially considering the PSG chairman is accused of bribery.....4 weeks tops would be my guess.

Took 8 weeks not 8 months didn’t it. Chronicle fucked that stat up.

Not sure to be honest but think it might have been more than 8 weeks.

Second part for all the suicide watch squad

Surprised this hasn't been discussed more. IF it is correct then it certainly doesn't sound good as Ashley's side are the ones that are dealing directly with the Premier League.

Well, they're the ones apparently acting as the middle men (which still sounds ridiculous btw).  But even if that's true, they aren't actually being asked or answering questions themselves.  Its not as if they're more in the know than the buyers because they received the questions first.

From Ashley's mate. Martin Samuel.

NOT THE PERFORMANCE FROM NEWCASTLE... OR BRUCE

Those who advocate for Steve Bruce at Newcastle will have been disappointed by Sunday's FA Cup display. When the new owners take over, they will be looking for a coach to drive the club to that famous next level. A performance of such caution was no application.

Thing is, this deal was probably based and agreed upon that it would only take 3-4 weeks to complete and not the 3-4 months it has dragged on for now. Seeing that Ashley's business was in a more worrying state back then than it is now, he would probably just be as happy if this falls through now than if it was approved.

It came from Simon Bird in the mirror, therefore I haven’t paid much attention to it. He hasn’t missed one opportunity to be negative regarding this takeover.

In saying that if the 2nd part is true, then it clearly shows Ashley’s side are beginning to doubt this will happen.

Saudi Arabia complaining to the WTO about leaks to the guardian coming from Qatar, and Qatar complaining that Saudi Arabia haven’t understood the ramifications of the WTO ruling, just show what premier league are dealing with.

If the Premier League are delaying this until they find something to keep bein happy, I don’t think that will ever happen they’ll just continue to milk it for all it’s worth.

Mark Douglas even stated on podcast yesterday that bein have employed a PR company purely to deal with this, the whole thing must be costing millions no way are they backing down.

The premier league should be nowhere near this fight, the Qataries wont drop the TV coverage because of the world cup, they need as much exposure as possible and football needs Saudi money, to allow them to go and purchase Roma would be a dereliction of duty by Masters

I agree but have we got any faith in Masters, he’s either going to come out of this having secured investment and dealt with piracy, or having driven the Saudis away to invest in another country.

The fact they’re allowing Bein to bully them, really is a bad look though and makes them look very weak.

This is probably why the whole thing has taken so long. As midds said some pages back it’s quite likely that it’s “failed” and the Saudis have been told what’s needed to clear it. Not driving the Saudis away and the potential investment whilst also not pissing off BeIn too much is the rock and hard place situation. My gut instinct is it’ll probably go through eventually because money talks in the end but the PL will want to have everything in order so there’s no comeback on them. The length of time it’s gone on however is ridiculous now.

Nearly 10.5k have signed that petition. Just shows this place is not a true reflection on the feelings of fans.

Who ever thought it was? We'll be around 0.02% of the active fan base, if that.

We're just a bunch of nerdy warhammer virgins, remember?
