Elliot Anderson (now playing for Nottingham Forest)

Recommended Posts

Ashworth had a succession plan that involved selling atleast one of Bruno or Joelinton last summer.

We don’t qualify for the CL or win the league cup without either tbf.

Our squad is so small we don’t have the luxury of loaning out good youngsters or buybacks.  If we can loan you out and you do well - we can probably sell you.

Anderson and Minteh will end up looking like bargains. Anderson already is.

It was genuinely awful business we did with our firesale, we have lost our on many millions. However the other side of the coin is who would we have not bought to avoid it and that's a very tricky answer.

I must say though, if our owners weren't so half assed and fully in it we could have ar least done more sponsors and held onto one of them.

Whilst this is true, the millions we gained by not having a 10-point deduction and achieving Champions League football has probably made up for it

Absolutely that is indeed the other side of this coin.

Bemused by people ignoring reality and still ploughing ahead 😂

Elliott Anderson would not be getting an England call up if he stayed.

True, the club (Staveley??) fucked up the PSR math but the kid wouldn't have progressed to where he is now.

Exactly -  not only would he be on the bench so much here but Nuno at Forrest seem to have the same record as Howe has of improving players.

I firmly believe he would’ve of. Like we’ve seen with Tino, Hall, Burn, they’ve all been capped under Howe.

Don’t know why people think Anderson would not develop under Howe. Said it before, the season before he was sold he played a lot for us, was looking good (but still development needed) when he was playing the LCM / LW role. He just got an untimely injury which then saw Miley get minutes during middle part of season, but Anderson was back for 2nd part of season and that was why Ashworth was looking at Joelinton being an option to move and Anderson the successor. Howe was gutted to see him go as he himself likely felt the same, and 12 months later we’ve spent £39m in signing Ramsey to replace Anderson.

End of 23-24, he was ahead of Hall and Tino in the game time and trust stakes.

Quote the bit where I, or anyone else for that matter, suggested  Eddie wouldn't have developed Elliott? :yikes:

You're deluded, however, if you think Elliott Anderson's improvement/progression would've been equally meteoric had he stayed. It's fanciful bollox. He's better than Sean Yates so got straight in there for a team that played a way that suits his style.

It’s not delusion, it’s seeing the qualities he had, progression he was making that season and confidence he was going into that summer as 4th choice CM that was firmly pushing Joelinton to take his starting place.

Guy was also persuaded by Southgate leading into 2024 not to join Scotland because the FA were keen on him. Many people knew the ability was there.

Nobody’s doubting Eddie’s ability or saying he wouldn’t have improved but he’s gone to a club that suits him and he’s playing every minute - that’s massive and we couldn’t have offered him that, I’m with Groundhog on this one

I think, and always have, that he is a great player. I've posted before, I know some of his family and was told he saw himself as a CM even whilst playing for Bristol Rovers. Was in no doubt he had the gifts.

However, and here's the rub of the fantasy, he got to play 39 games for Forest. In his preferred position. In a team that suited his playing style. This "filling in for BigJoe" stuff is laughable. Willock got 16 games, Miley 4, most as sub. Anderson wouldn't have blossomed as quick and Howe is miffed because he recognised a longer term asset.

Who’s better Anderson or Wharton?

I know he’s a local boy but if we had the choice I think I’d prefer Wharton

Love how well he’s done though, glad he nailed down a position and became indispensable

Always thought Wharton seemed like a bit of a boring Spanish DM regen, would much prefer the all action Anderson personally, but I think Wharton will end up at a bigger club.

Wharton's the better player.

Really rate Anderson tho and it's a shame he had to sold when he was.
