Bimpy474
Never judge things in hindsight, however it's turning out we should have sold Gordon due to PSR, not Anderson and Minteh. Easy to say it now like.

Easy to say it now like. So many butterfly effects from this. Example Minteh knocking us out of the FA Cup and Gordon being sent-off in the same game had a direct impact on us winning the Carabao Cup Final and finishing top 5 with no further distractions. Anderson absolutely bottled it in both games against us last season too which contributed to a nice 6 points. STM
Personally id prefer if we weren't to make such choices. Anderson and Gordon are both fantastic. I dont see why we need to cast shade on one in order to praise the other.

As i said though, it's so easy to say that now.
bobbydazzla
I’m of the opinion that playing without the elevated expectations that are inevitably placed on a talented hometown lad has benefitted Anderson He’s thrived away from NUFC and it never really clicked for him when playing for us He seems to be much better when not under the additional pressure of being a potential local hero Edited September 6, 2025 by bobbydazzla

healthyaddiction
Just now, The College Dropout said: How was he? He was good. Obviously playing as the 6 against Andora he wasn't under much pressure but played plenty of nice line breaking passes. Was pretty comfortably motm. Super Duper Branko Strupar
Not guaranteed, obviously, but there's a decent argument to be made that he wouldn't be starting for England today if he was still with us.

LaurentRobert
Anderson is great and I do hope he makes a comeback to Newcastle later in his career. However, let's be honest, if he did stay at nufc, he would've remained a bench player. No way he'd replace Bruno, Tonali or Joelinton in that midfield

aussiemag
He will want to come back at some stage as a local boy and us being a challenging side. Either he signs a new contact at Forest with a release clause or we wait another 2 years for Forest needing to sell to maximise his value.
Erikse
4 hours ago, bobbydazzla said: He wouldn’t even be starting for us if he was still with us Joelinton has been out for 39 games in the last 2 years with 6 separate injury layoffs. He would probably have gotten quite a few starts last season, and even more in this one with the added load of CL. Not a star player like at Forest, but I still think his development would have been good with us, and with increasingly more minutes as he got better. The Butcher
We won that all important trophy, but it's still bittersweet. The worst part is he was never given a proper chance here. Hope he comes hyem one day.
