If this gets rejected and the Qataris end up getting Leeds now they're in the PL I'll be fuming.

Wallsendmag will be fuming even more since he insists Leeds have never been a big club.

They aren't. s*** history, s*** crowds historically, and a shithole of a stadium!

Yeah, you just need to convince the rest of the country now, we've had a week of stories and tv debates about how great it is to have Leeds back in the big time. But keep at it, your one man campaign to declare Leeds a historically small club might snowball into something bigger.

Didn't say they were small, they're just not that big. Crowd wise, trophy wise, stadium wise, all bang average really.

They've spent more of their history outside of the top division than in it ffs. There's literally nothing there that can define them as a big club.

Are we still talking about English football? Maybe your idea of a big football club is one which is a worldwide CL giant?

There are 9 clubs in England who are historically bigger than Leeds, arguably 10 if you include the mackems.

Leeds only had their 100th anniversary a year or so ago. They were good in the 70s which is why the boomers generation get all misty eyed about them and why they have so many fans in Norway and Ireland as that's when those 2 countries started showing English football on tv.

But that once you look past the hype there is objectively very little to differentiate them from a Sheffield Wednesday or even a West Brom in terms of attendance and trophies.

The city is mint for drinking in though and I've got to say I do like Elland Road as a stadium even if it isn't all polished and sparkly.

But it's not just the boomers who get misty eyed about Leeds, we've had a week of journalists and pundits wanking off about Leeds returning to the Premier. It's a shame there's not likely to be crowds next season, otherwise you would have seen the difference between a Leeds fanbase and the Sheffield/West Brom ones. As for Sunderland, well my heart bleeds for them in the third division. Oh what a tragedy.

As for those who don't want to discuss these random topics in this thread, feel free to update us on the riveting takeover updates, no doubt we'll all get so hyped we can't talk about anything else!

The only thing to say about our Takeover is that there are now only TWO DAYS to go.

Time to start getting excited with anticipation . . .

Boro , Stoke ... its usually the little places that are the worst

Aye as anyone at Stoke away in league cup 96 will confirm, Wednesday night we took 6500 down absolute hell on all night. Took a snide blow on way into ground and had to use the gear lock to fend off some big baldy cnut after the match. Can laugh about it now but in all my years home and away never seen anything like it, running battles all over after match.

We were at that one. Won 4-0 I remember.  Atmosphere was hostile from the moment we arrived. We were driving around looking for the ground (it was the old Victoria Ground not the one they have now) and wound the window down to ask a couple of lasses where the ground was. "f*** off you Geordie b******s" came the response and we knew from then on it was going to be one of those nights. Finally found somewhere to park and went for a drink. No Newcastle fans allowed anywhere. Headed to a burger van instead. My mate bought a burger and didn't even get to take a bite of it when a Stoke fan walked up to him and knocked it straight out of his hands. Headed to the ground after that. Remember being funneled down an alleyway separated by a mesh fence. Stoke fans on the other side trying to climb over it to get to us. Finally got into the ground and it was the most intimidating atmosphere I've experience in over 35 years of watching NUFC.

Came out the ground afterwards and you knew what was coming. We got chatting to a QPR fan who had travelled up from London especially to watch Les Ferdinand. Next thing we knew about 50 Stoke fans came charging over and started laying into the 5 of us. Somehow we managed to fight them off and ran back down towards the direction we'd came from. This meant trying to dodge punches and kicks from oncoming home fans though. Finally got to relative safety and witnessed a Newcastle minibus being turned over onto its side. We were then given our own personal police escort back to Stoke covered in blood and ripped clothes. Not a very pleasant journey home!

Never been back to Stoke since.

The stoke side of that story was that some young lass had been assaulted by geordies prior to the match, they then set out to seek revenge, course it was complete bollocks. It was the most orchestrated attack I’ve seen in my time following us.

Cracking performance by the lads though Ginola, Ferdinand and Pedro destroyed them that night. We had to stop off at services on M6 coming out of stoke, the petrol pumps were all off and the forecourt was choca with mags, next thing the team bus comes in, Pedro, Clarky and the King were all in the shop, Pedro was literally grabbing every chocolate bar in the fucking place. Anyway got to shake all their hands sporting the biggest shiner in my fucking life, great memories from an era I don’t think we’ll ever see repeated.

Not sure if anyone seen this the other day, the suggestion is that this has come from Richard Collins head of compliance PIF. I have no idea if genuine or not, but it’s a quiet day on the takeover front and I love shit like this.

Aye and what generation do you think most (not all admittedly) of the pundits are??

We don't need hypothetical crowds for next season to know that Sheff Wed have averaged higher attendances through their history than Leeds, that's not an opinion it's an objective fact. Similarly that they've won exactly the same amount of major trophies as west brom.

I'm not trying to piss on anyone's parade and by all means carry on getting excited that Barcelona of Beeston are back where they belong if you want but Wallsend mag is quite correct when he says that Leeds are not one of the giants of English football despite the exaggerated opinion they have of themselves and despite the media's indulgence of said opinion.

Worst takeover ever.

Stoke fans are cunts. I remember when they came up for a FA Cup Final Match when KK had just been announced as manager again. Seen loads of them storm into Rosie's Bar and starting throwing punches for nee reason. Some Toon fan was walking along with his kid and got knocked out - so snide.

Once it ran into the restart of the PL, it was never going to be announced before then.

The window opens on Monday. I think we could see something announced then. The PL won’t want to be accused of affecting a teams preparation for the season ahead.

I promise I'm not saying this just to be contrary or a knob... but they won't give a flying fuck about that, I guarantee it.

Preparation? NUFC ?

Perfect excuse for Mike to not spend any money.
