I still cannot get my head around what has happened to us in the last few days. It's just the polar opposite to where we were under Ashley. All the positive news stories coming out about sporting directors, top managers being linked, top players being linked etc. Since Wednesday when this looked to be back on, I've been in almost like a daze, I still can't believe it.

I've just rewatched the moment it broke on sky sports news (there's a video on youtube) and it honestly brought a tear to my eye (again). I've also just watched the Staveley quick interview outside Jesmond dene house moments after the news broke, again just sat there with goosebumps as I watched.

From where I was only a week ago, where basically I'd turned by back on football, wasn't watching any of it, not even watched us this season, I was literally 99% out, to where I am now, it's night and day.

Back to St James on Sunday for the first time in nearly 2 years, cannot not fucking wait! HWTL!

To be fair, he's been on the right side about one other thing in the past - gun control.

Just the one thing, mind.

He was brilliant at holding the government to account over their shambolic handling of Covid to be fair.

He's still a monumental cunt though.

He's hit and miss with his opinions tbf, but at least he's consistent and sticks to his principals. Don't particularly like the guy and he's as tactful as a ballet dancing bull, I just find him a bit meh.

Does anyone know anything about Frank McParland? Has he done anything noteworthy?

Was linked over a year ago with Owen Brown. Both are already working with PCP. https://www.nufcblog.com/2020/05/21/signs-that-rafa-benitez-could-be-making-a-surprise-return-to-newcastle/

Times article here: https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/newcastle-takeover-former-liverpool-transfer-specialist-frank-mcparland-to-help-reshape-newcastle-zrvf0lgxm

What were the early days like when Ashley first took over?

Mostly piss taking the Mackems from what I recall, sprinkled with some “we’ve got a billionaire now” lifting craic.

Took one season to realize it was going backwards for those with any intelligence towards football.

It's just building up to the big one now. Who else could we expect to return? @Tooj@Bowie? Sure there's loads.

I was precariously close to being the biggest pervert on here but #1 is locked now.

Necking the pint was endearing, showing up in an Alan Smuth top was nice, but should have been a clue.

It was a gradual realization until Keegan, iirc. Not sure if the penny dropped prior to that.

People were quite excited because he had some money and what had been going on prior to it (after Hall checked out) was equally depressing. The choices were erratic and often stupid ... boring, pig headed managers ... expensive, past it trophy signings etc. The warning sign was Ashley's reclusive reputation (and, of course, he'd built a buisness ripping people off for tat).

I don't think the penny dropped until Keegan walked. Even though the writing was on the wall before that I think most gave him the benefit of the doubt.
