If we were a real club I'd be excited to see how we build on this core.

Yeah, it's tough to really get too excited because ultimately the owner and manager are certain to find a way to ruin something.

According to Souness he's a maverick. That must be Scottish for GOAT.

It means he’s a player he’d bin at the first opportunity.  Like Robert and Bellamy.

When we press we're impressive. We're clearly not fit enough and good enough to play this way for 90 minutes every game but if we pick our times during the game and don't sit back too much when we aren't pressing high, we could finish top 10 if ASM & Wilson stay fit.

We're doing well but ASM needs more brains around him to take space when he's attracting 2 or 3 West Ham players' attention in the middle of the park. They've rightly identified him as our major threat, exploit it

Krafth is literally playing because of that "he did nothing wrong so he can't be changed" thing he's got an obsession with. Get Schar on.

Think Krafth has done OK really so far.

Schar and not Krafth and that's 3-1.

We've played well. They had a good 15 minutes but on the whole, we were pretty good. We also hit the bar and that Clark header wasn't far away.  11 attempts from us, more than a games' worth last year, and the dizzy heights of 44% possession.

When Wilson , Maxi and Miggy are fit we've a chance in most games. There does seem to be some of the problems of last season in that teams frequently have runners that the centre midfield loses (usually Shelvey not tracking). The right hand side of defence and right back area is once again wide open at times, lost count of the problems that caused us last year.

He's dreadful on the ball. When you play 3 CB's one of them needs to be good on the ball.

Two of them need to be at least. Clarke in particular is desperately bad in possession.

Was thinking the same.

Or Beardsley who he couldn't wait to sell to Everton.

Then pay twice as much for Paul Stewart.

We need whole new centre midfield to help out attack and defence, easy to bypass when have ASM and Wilson fit but if they are out we need that strength in the middle to help build up attack and help defence out

What Souness did here was unforgiveable , inherited one of the best young sides in Europe. Shearer and Kluivert in the squad as well. All he had to do was sort out the defence. That Boumsong transfer was one of the most suspect in the history of football.

ASM and Wilson really shouldn't be at this graveyard of a club. They could play for more ambitious teams

Correct.

But, all they have to do is hang around a bit longer, and they will be playing here, at a far more ambitious club.

I'm sure they know that.

Appreciate the ball went straight in but surely those west ham players were interfering with play for their goal? Without them woodman dives on that easy

They are onside though.

His career is littered with them.

Spent double what he got for Beardsley replacing him with Paul Stewarrt, Nigel Clough and Dean Saunders.

Whilst Beardsley tore it up for five more years - Stewart was loaned to 2nd tier Palace  then given a free to 2nd tier mackems, Clough given a free-transfer to relegation bound Man City then a free to Forest then vanished and Saunders had 1 good year at Villa before becoming a journeyman.

Now works as an expert on TV.
