That's one thing you garner when you read profiles on Hopkinson: the sheer amount of contacts he has managed to accrue by being a bang-up guy over a long, hardworking career. His rolodex must be the size of a baseball mitt. I don't quite understand his remit, but my hope is that he manages to rectify the food situation at the ground, at least by the addition of a pastrami sandwich and something smothered in hot honey.

The interview piece I read of him watching the match in NY at the pub with his family is class. He’s not going to say it out loud as it probably come off wrong but I’d venture to say he’s probably been fully dialed in since he got the nod and has been watching the summer unfold with a keen eye. He’s probably reading everything he can to absorb the situations from all angles.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I talked to a guy who’s held similar or higher positions in the NHL (incl. owning and starting up franchises in the minors) last week about him.

He’s as well regarded as they come according to him. Super professional, sociable, a tough negotiator and sets high standards but also seemingly well liked across the board.

Seems like an absolute gem from what I heard.

Nice 👌

Ties in with how he describes himself to fair. I like his story, leaving school without a degree, working his way up the ladder. Nothings been handed to him

by the sounds of it.

I do not follow sports executives outside of anything in Tampa or Orlando so don’t know anything about him other than what I have read online, but just looking at what he has achieved during the time he has been at the various sporting organizations over here you can’t help but be very excited about the prospect of bringing someone with this background and success on paper. Everything he has said may sound boilerplate to some of you, but  I appreciated all of it. I recognize my opinions may differ than many of you, but it should not be diminished and nor should any of you who have a different opinion. The one thing we can all agree on, is we have much to improve at the club but it is great to see that we are making progress as best we can even if it’s not on a timeline we all may want. Look forward to seeing more from him as he continues to improve our club.

Coming from American sports teams locker rooms, he’s probably sat there thinking how shit ours is.

That might be the sort of thing which attracted him to this job in the first place. All he is going to see is potential for improvement, and that's what he's all about!

My internet reading about Wilson says he's most like Edu - a balanced operator who knows how to work with ownership, manager, scouting team etc. Very collaborative guy, super bright, not some recruitment savant but very good at steadying an entire organization.

If it’s him, let’s hope so. Some confidence & stability re these positions is long overdue. Get Wilson in and kick on.
