Remember reading the same sort of bollocks this time last year from those that know nothing about football . Eddie is the best thing that has happened to the club in the last 20 years and the only thing holding it together. Anyone questioning him automatically knows fuck all about anything in all honesty

Eddie could lose the next 5 and I'd still back him. He won us the cup and he's made us what we are. However, that doesn't mean he's immune to criticism.

Like I said in the match thread, these backs to the wall defensive displays againt the top teams have a feeling of inevitability about them at the moment that I haven't felt in previous seasons.

Sitting off and the lack of our usual press. ???

Manager got it wrong today, but it happens.

Absolutely no point in having a forum then if you can't question the tactics when he got it so wrong on the day.

Eddie is class and can stay as long as he likes, but he got it badly wrong today and people will discuss it.

he asked if it's ever worked, when it clearly did 8 months ago against Arsenal in one of our most important games in recent memory.

It did aye. It evidently wasn't the right system to switch to today though.

2 wins in last 10 competitive games going back to last season (3 in 17 if you include pre-season games).

We've played Arsenal X2, Liverpool and Barca as part of that 10 but It must feel like we've hardly won a game for fucking ages for the players.

so I think we can draw a conclusion that this trick no longer works now?

Don't want to call the lad but this 5 at the back formation which worked against arsenal and Chelsea I think has been a disaster since.

he needs to go back to the 4-3-3 or a 4-5-1 and have a go at teams we did against liverpool why change for arsenal.

It feels to me like he’s gone with a pragmatic approach that means less pressing, in order to manage squad output with Europe. But it’s then costing us all attacking threat, which is what’s made us successful in the past.

A better approach would be to play some boring possession football in our usual 4-3-3 to take pressing energy off, but Howe doesn’t seem to go that way. It’s 3-4-3/3-5-2 has worked in the past in a couple of big games, so let’s play it more.

I kinda feel sorry for Howe when it comes to our attackers because we would no doubt have more goals if Wissa didn't get injured. But at least he'll return and get back to full fitness just in time for the November international break. It also doesn't help Howe that Barnes and Gordon have forgotten how to score or assist.

you changing the goalposts as you usually do.

how about trying to change your attitude a bit? I genuinely ask that question and glad that you remind me that he did it once against the gunner last season. Even you agree that he got it wrong today so I don’t think you would want Howe to try this 532 again next game?

and sometimes Howe played a very aggressive / high pressing 3-4-3 formation. That’s different from the 5-3-2 park the bus we played on the second half today. Hence I asked that question
