Howe needs to learn how to manage 2 games a week

A draw against one of the best in the world followed by a win away against one of the sky 6 probably isnt the best time to use this point against him

The best and most successful manager we’ve had,  but needs replaced by somebody that the doubters can’t even name.
The joys of a football forum.

Yeah, I’ve been critical of him in the past but he seems to be learning how do to this. Another European stint next season would be more experience too.

Think with 3 cup completions was just too many games this season. Hoping now some of that eases off a bit we see how the team can play.

Think with our squad compared to others we can maybe do well in the league and one cup competition, but difficult to compete across them all. Champions league schedule brutal in early phases along with league cup/FA cup and relentless league schedule has made it difficult. Hopefully he's learned a lot and if not in Europe next season and with some new players may see completely different outcome.

If we qualify for Europe again next season the domestic cups in the early rounds must be deprioritised.

We were 12th going into this game. It's an obvious problem he himself has acknowledged.

How many teams in the league have overperformed so far this season? Perhaps Brentford and Everton, plus Sunderland and Leeds. So far. Quite a few have underperfomed in the league especially Liverpool, Chelsea, us, Spurs, Forest and West Ham.

Looking at a lot of these managers in the premier league how many would you actually swap for Howe? Feel pretty fortunate to have him.

At the minute, and since he arrived....I wouldn't swap any manager for him full stop.

And we’re ninth after it. So what?

The conversation was about the pros and cons of being in a lesser European competition. I offered a pro and now wish I hadn't bothered.

The 'Howe needs to learn how to manage two games a week' is such nonsense like. We've went deep in the cups every season he's had here. Spurs is in a relegation battle with CL, Forest is in the same with a weaker comp and we're doing better than Palace and Brighton also in weaker comps. We also reached a semi final and r16 with tough draws too in the domestic cup comps. He's managed this off the back of a poor transfer window which has nothing to do with managing game weeks.

A lot of them are weirdos, I’m happy we have a relatively normal bloke in charge.

Acrual reasons why any europe > no europe:

1. Better pulling power on transfers

2. Improve coefficient for better seeding

3. Greater income from prize money, sponsorships, etc...

As fans, it's not exactly exciting or glamorous playing the 4th placed team in the Azerbaijan first division, but who turns their nose up at the chance of any European silverware, beggars, choosers and all that.

Edit: I wouldn't swap Howe for any manager in any league

I do wonder how much our team selections in the early rounds of the league cup were influenced by us being the holders.  Hopefully next season we'll see a little more pragmatism and take the early rounds of the cups as a chance to give some of the youngsters some game time and rest a few of the purples.

He can stay for life as far as I'm concerned, but we have to straighten the player recruitment out, that summer mustn't be repeated.

Not wanting Europa league is madness. We’d be favourites to win it and it gets you in the CL.

And as it's not as strong as the champions league you can rotate a bit more and potentially give some young fringe players some game time

Howe was really a one game a week, preferred starting eleven, kind of manager but just abut every manager in the PL would prefer that given the option.

We've become a strong cup side on three fronts and along with the demands and pressure of of now needing to succeed in the PL, rather than just exist, we are to some extent victims of our own success, especially against the backdrop of a confused close season and long injury list.

I think he has really developed this season as a two games per week, squad rotational manager and that is improvement on top of what was already being a brilliant. top rate manager.
