BeloEmre
The irony of course is that Lejeune is the better defender and has been sacked off for no apparent reason. Probably because he’s never fit.
Rafalove
If we are to progress we need to show some imagination in the transfer market. Doesn’t look like we are
TheInfiniteOdyssey
Smalling is a canny defender but we have a good bunch already at the club Why the fuck are these idiots after players that don’t address the actual weaknesses in the team which is primarily, a lack of goals Take the £30m or whatever and sign a proper goalscoring striker you inept cunts
buzz
Smalling is probably a bit above our station He'd be comfortably our best defender.
Guest reefatoon
It’s crackers. Bruce has been reverting back to two centre backs, we already have about 6 of the fuckers and absolutely no money to spend. So let’s go buy another.

Yorkie
Just absolutely bog standard transfer targets, simply bodies through the door cos they're available. No plan, no imagination, just available and affordable. Looks as if even the famed transfer policy has completely gone out the window too (buy them young and cheap, sell them established and expensive). Symptomatic of a regime that has well and truly checked out I guess. Now it's "whatever agent chuck-arounder Bruce wants, Bruce gets; I don't give a fuck." So let’s go buy another. Schar has 12 months left, he’ll be sold. Lejeune didn’t seem Bruce’s cup of tea from the start and has injury problems. Dummett is barely a left-sided CB in a back three, he’d not be in the picture in a two. He’ll go back to being considered a left-back. That leaves Lascelles, Clark & Fernandez. Could 100% see why Bruce would want Smalling.
toon25
Two new full backs, a winger, a central midfielder, and a striker is the bare minimum needed.
Guest reefatoon
It’s nowhere near priority though considering we have nobody to put the ball in the net and no money to spend.

xLiaaamx
Think I'd rather see how cheap Badou Ndiaye could be then go for Davies.

ElDiablo
I found out the other day that Smalling sounds exactly like Richard Ayoade.
Raconteur
Thought Roma wanted him permanently. I feel like I read they weren't willing to pay the wages he wanted - which would make him an odd target for SDFC

joeyt
Newcastle are eyeing up a move for Oxford captain Rob Dickie as Steve Bruce looks to strengthen his defensive options over the summer. The England under-19 international was watched by Leeds and West Brom scouts throughout last season, but it is Newcastle who could make the first move with budgets limited after the collapse of their takeover. With just a year left to run on his existing contract, Dickie would only cost around £2million with Oxford knowing they would miss out on a fee for the centre-back next summer.
