Transfer rumours

The problem is no one other than Rafa knows how to carry out a transfer. Charnley is just an incompetent prick he should be stuck in a field somewhere to scare birds away that's all he's fit for

He'd be shit at that too. They'd just sit on his head trying to hatch him.

Nowt to do with Charnley being incompetent. He's just doing what he's told.

Rubbish he may be the ultimate subservient yes man but he's proved he's seriously lacking in negotiating  and closing transfers it takes us fucking ages to do something other clubs close quickly and efficiently

He's done plenty of deals when his superiors have allowed him to do so.

Fully agree. They put the illusion out there that they don’t know what they’re doing, but the reality is that they are more in control of their money than any other club in the PL at this point in time. If they wanted to spend money the club would still attract some very good players.

The fat man refuses to buy into this crazy money era though, he’s never once come close to breaking the transfer record in all these years. Any supposed bid above that I call bullshit on. Multitude of reasons why. The main one being that his feelings were hurt when we turned on him after Keegan. He will never get over that. Ever.

But he also likes a gamble and am guessing his big bet could be that the PL bubble will burst. He’ll do what he does best in those conditions and act like the vulture he is.

Big bet though.

Especially now that he’s potentially cash strapped. No way he’s going to spend if he’s got a lump sum of tv money put away for a rainy day..

They've shown in the past when the will is there then deals can be done (a rarity no doubt), it's not an issue of incompetence, the issue is they have no intention of making significant transfers.

Charnley is very limited, where a decent chairman/director can help in terms of commercialisation I'm not sure he can BUT that suits Ashley, the club is run on a shoestring and Sports Direct get their free advertising.

Bryan, one of Schar or Reyes and Rondon would still leave us a number 10 and striker short if Gayle goes.

I feel if Schar comes in we could still lose Jamaal if a big club have an offer behind closed doors. Or he's just basically Mbembas replacement?

I think he is a 2nd / 3rd choice. Surely we will not sell our captain? surely? right?

 He seemed to be alright at doing them in the championship when he was allowed to.

Fernadez from Swansea? Yikes.

Not a chance he’s anywhere near Rafa’s list. Has to be paper talk. I’d rather play colback there.

Did they not work with each other at Napoli?

They did. He played in the cup final that Rafa won.

Liverpool are asking £27 million for Origi

And £20 million for Ings

What is this world man

this is a world where even if you need to sell some players to help balance the books you don't fucking advertise it to the entire world, then you can start negotiations from a position of strength

That has to be the most short-sighted policy we have followed under Ashley, but I don't think we advertise it as such, it probably comes to light from other sources including Rafa himself when he's asked why we haven't bought anyone yet. Selling clubs will also probably leak it when we take weeks over a signing while we try and shift someone off our books to bring them in.
