Sven Botman back late December/early January 'at the earliest' (Howe)

Yip, idiotic comparison.

Mings was on the bench for the first time  2 months after returning to full training.

It’s going to be middle of February before he is starting minimum imo.

Between Christmas and New Year in my opinion.

Plenty of players are back playing 9-12 months after an ACL, no? Mings seems an odd example. He took a long time to return. Wasn’t even back in matchday squads a full year after doing it.

Whether Botman will be anywhere near his best is another matter. Some players seem to come back ok. Some take a while to get back to it. VVD, for example.

Hard to tell when we have no idea what stage he is at with his training or how his recovery has gone. Has all sounded pretty positive so far.

Massive news this

Yeah. If he is back playing in training games. That’s quality news. I’d imagine he’ll still get eased in. But I was thinking he was just back with the group doing more controlled drills and stuff like that. Not actually playing. Albeit with reduced contact compared to a real game.

Burn's done a good job in Botman's absence, but we really miss his recovery pace on that side of the defence. Hopefully he comes back just as fast as before.

Not to be too judgemental, but I'll be writing him off if he's not fully up to speed in his first game back after being out for ten to eleven months.

What’s mad is Burn has been very very good.

Defensively he’s been absolutely excellent, but there’s no question having Botman back will improve us significantly when we have the ball.

oh ya, 100%. I’ll have a sigh of relief that our main backup CB/LB will be Burn at some point over Kelly. Hell we could go a back 3 with Hall and Tino as wingbacks if needed too.

Are your forgetting this is Newcastle, Rod.

Returns in a few weeks means a few months.

To be serious, I can imagine Krafth being really helpful in guiding Botman and Lascelles in their recoveries, seeing as he's been there and done that so recently. Looks like he takes care of himself impeccably.

Do you think Eddie will shift burn to leftback when botman is ready to start games?

nah, Hall has been our best player this season.
