Sven Botman: targeting January return (Howe)

As some of you know, I’m relatively well connected to Sven and his family… they didn’t see this coming at all. All scans in recent months have shown no need for surgery. He had one in Holland around 3 weeks ago that showed no damage and no need for surgery. Obviously the way he landed on Saturday has caused something significant to change, though.

And for those saying the medical staff and manager are to blame… well you’re fundamentally 100% incorrect, but you do you. Sven has seen multiple specialists both in the UK and the Netherlands, and has been reassured from every meeting until this point that surgery wasn't necessary.

So if you’re desperate to blame someone, blame the specialists for not promoting the idea of surgery. It has had absolutely nothing to do with Howe and his team.

literally thick comments from people completely not involved at all blaming the medical staff/ Eddie etc

WE have managed the injury based on multiple 3rd party specialists advice. Not entirely sure what else people want.

If we can see Botman hasn't been right in the way he's been playing last few months, then how can the medical/coaching staff not?

 Scapegoat though right lads

There’s suspicion that he was misdiagnosed and came back too early, because we all know he hasn’t looked right.

Not good enough for the medical team, if true, obviously I wish him a speedy recovery,

Was that before or after we misdiagnosed his injury and sent him back out to play with a damaged ACL and then made it a lot worse?

I did mention in another post further back that I know they have far more data and knowledge than us. But that’s the same for every aspect of the club and it doesn’t stop fans voicing their concerns and opinions.

He has comeback and clearly been feeling the effects of it and nowhere near right. Now he’s broken down again.

I don’t think it’s just being smart after the event or in hindsight. It felt like at the time we handled it poorly, loads said as much and it’s been proven right to some degree.

So what you're saying is, the club, and by club I mean specifically Eddie Howe, should've got better specialists? And Howe should be held personally responsible?

All these injuries are just bad luck lads, not incompetence at all.

Imagine if some injuries were bad luck and others were due to fatigue, along with potential mismanagement. You'd have like this weird middle ground where you wouldn't have to take an extreme opinion.

That all makes a nice theory but its not based on fact.

There's absolutely no evidence that it's the same problem.

If information does indeed surface that it's the same injury, fine.

Well someone is to blame because it's been obvious for months that he's not been right. I don't have to have a medical or coaching badge to see that

So that's Joelinton, Willock, Isak, Wilson, Botman and probably more, all have returned from injury clearly unfit for all to see and all have paid the price with a new injury. Fucking clowns.

What do you mean no evidence it’s the same problem ? Isn’t it an ACL, the exact same injury as earlier in the season?

Why are people assuming that he hasn't looked right because of his knee?

I’d definitely be stepping up any interest in Kelly from Bournemouth now.

I think we were going to buy a CB in the summer anyway (as well as L Kelly)

Its not just a one off case though.

Barnes being out an additional month.

Anderson adding 2 months to his recovering

Willock multiple setbacks

Longstaff playing through injury when we have Miley who is more rested now.

Wilson/Isak needing to rotate and then playing 90 minutes when we know they couldnt do it.

Gordon being ruled out on the Friday playing the full 90 the next day.

Murphy being ruled out, coming back for about 5 minutes.

Burn breaking his back, and then being rushed back in when Livra was in form, he didnt break down but hasnt been the same since.

I feel the evidence is fairly overwhelming?

I agree the initial misdiagnosis wasn't handled well, but everything since October last year has been handled by 3rd parties.

He hadn't been "feeling the effects of it" at all... in fact the last time I saw him and his family a couple of weeks back (before the Wolves game), he was very happy with it.

I think he has been suffering mentally from perhaps a lack of confidence in himself or in the injury, but in terms of actual pain / movement issues... absolutely none at all.
