28-32 is the prime age for a cb

No doubt, but it's also money you will never get back. We've already made two signings where we've written off close to £40m on 30yr olds, at some point we have to consider how it will affect our ambitions in the future if we can't show we are abiding by FFP rules.

We have the funds no matter how inflated the prices are. To get a better defender is going to be hard this January. Even if you do get a chance, you'd need to raise it probably to Van Djik levels of fees with no guarantees you'd get similar quality.

I say better spend the available.cash we have on what is available right now rather than looking back regrettably having funds but not spending it and getting relegated.

My only hope is if we do get him, he doesn't turn into Boumsong MKII.

Hello Trensa,

Carlos is going to triple his wages by coming to Newcastle. He is already making :( faces about being prevented the move. You don't want an unhappy player on your hands trust me. Sell him for the best price £28m and cash in before he gets too old. Both sides win.

The same speech that Chelsea fans with Kounde Last summer and he is playing for us like always.

Two weeks and this Windows is closed. Monchi is not selling a CB like DC without a substitute for him so the Last week the only way to release DC would be paying his clause. With Kounde was the same.

If Ben White was £50 million then Diego Carlos surely worth £37.5 million?

It's not a case of whether we get a CB, it's a question of which one of our targets is going to give us the best deal. If Carlos' fee keeps going up we will probably go back to Botman or elsewhere.

Surprised we haven't looked in Germany.

Schlotterbeck wasn't a goer but we were interested according to reports. Don't remember anyone else. Think someone here suggested someone but we weren't actually linked.

Been previously linked with Sule and Ginter, but I imagine they’ll be waiting until the summer.

Every club knows we need a CB desperately. They also know we have the money to spend. Unless we can find a player in the last 6 months of his contract or with a release clause (at a price that we are willing to pay) then I think alot of negotiations are going to be similar to this and the Botman scenario.

We are trying to pry away players who are starting week in week out for their clubs, some of who are also doing pretty well in their league and are still in Europe. These selling clubs hold alot of the power right now and clearly aren't in any mood to play ball.
