BoSelecta
Wishful thinking but I do hope they’ll spend to this so called limit on the essential upgrades and then perhaps use it as a bargaining position to get 1 or 2 more in. ‘Luxury’ players if they can get them at the right price; Paqueta for example. ‘We’re happy with our window but we’ll take him at £X’

The Prophet
If the club want Paqueta (I don't think they do), it makes no sense to wait. He's a World Cup away from shooting up in value with significantly more interest.

Downey might be getting told that’s the truth, he might be getting asked to put that figure out, he might be guessing, or he might even be right. It’s all pie in the sky until the window closes and we know for sure. Edited July 1, 2022 by Manxst
Cookie1892
can we not tempt them with a loan to buy for pacqueta? saves our budget and we get him now?

Our owners may really want a statement signing in Diaby.

BoSelecta
Bottom line is we need to be spending more then the teams we are hoping to overtake. Assuming a broadly equal success rate in the market.
ponsaelius
Got to go big on a wide attacker for me if that is the remaining budget. Forward you can get a bit more creative and explore potential loan market, loan to buy options etc.

ponsaelius
I still think we're looking at holding out for Ekikite. I get the impression the financial package for him was pretty reasonable considering the upside they see. Obviously the agent demands stepped it up to a cost that made it less suitable. SUPERTOON
So we where willing to spend the remainder of our budget on a 19 year old with 6 months of first team football under his belt ? Seems pretty risky to me. If the budget is indeed nearly gone then got to question why we spent 10 million or so on a keeper. Especially if the quality we’ve been linked with. Fuck sake do we suddenly have to be happy and wag our tails about every aspect of the club now just coz Ashley has gone. ponsaelius
Thing is we've made huge strides but all of our signings other than Bruno have been solid defensive additions. Wood was a pragmatic signing up top to secure survival. I think going for at least one marquee player in forward areas is necessary tbh. Both to make a statement but also to drastically improve the team where it is currently weakest. The hardest and most expensive signings to make are those in the forward areas. Tsunami
If the right players come available and want to come I’m sure we’ll spend what’s needed. FFP isn’t too much if a concern if we get the structures right.
