Keith Downey live at Benton

Expects 2 more signings

Forward

winger

One permanent , probably one loan

53 million spent

budget probably 80-90 million

so expects one of those positions to be around 30 /35 million , other a loan

players doing a double session

Blow the budget on Diaby and Broja on loan? Still want Paqueta!

5 mil "signing-on fee" for Eriksen, Broja on loan. Blow 50 mil on Diaby. Job's a good'un.

Save Paqueta for next summer if need be.

Think people need to start accepting that that is our budget. Personally I’m disappointed I thought we’d go pretty big for the wide right or forward position. Paqueta & Diaby are just a dream at this point

Wishful thinking but I do hope they’ll spend to this so called limit on the essential upgrades and then perhaps use it as a bargaining position to get 1 or 2 more in. ‘Luxury’ players if they can get them at the right price; Paqueta for example.

Talk of budgets from ANYone other than Howe and the owners is all storytime. Downey might be getting told that’s the truth, he might be getting asked to put that figure out, he might be guessing, or he might even be right. It’s all pie in the sky until the window closes and we know for sure.

I wasn't working off the Downie budget estimate, to be fair, just what I figured would be reasonable value. [emoji38] Our owners may really want a statement signing in Diaby.

disappointed? Have you slept through the last 13 years?

The last 13 years is irrelevant. Absolutely despise that argument. I’m not asking for the world just a very good right winger to transform the forward line and take pressure off ASM.

I still think we're looking at holding out for Ekikite. I get the impression the financial package for him was pretty reasonable considering the upside they see. Obviously the agent demands stepped it up to a cost that made it less suitable.

That's the budget they want people to think we have. Whether it is or not remains to be seen.

the window has another 2 months before it closes, you’ve got no idea of the clubs budget or plans or who they will sign. You’re sitting typing out that you’re disappointed. Christ.

So we where willing to spend the remainder of our budget on a 19 year old with 6 months of first team football under his belt ? Seems pretty risky to me.

If the budget is indeed nearly gone then got to question why we spent 10 million or so on a keeper.

I didn’t say I was disappointed with the business we’ve done or the window as a whole I’m disappointed we may not get a quality winger. Especially if the quality we’ve been linked with. Fuck sake do we suddenly have to be happy and wag our tails about every aspect of the club now just coz Ashley has gone. Christ

Are people actually saying they're disappointed when we've already signed 3 people prior to pre-season training start? Have a word like

If the club want Paqueta (I don't think they do), it makes no sense to wait. He's a World Cup away from shooting up in value with significantly more interest.

I think if they really wanted him we’d know about it by now

Not at all, but it's a strange take to be disappointed about a signing that may or may not happen.

Thing is we've made huge strides but all of our signings other than Bruno have been solid defensive additions. Wood was a pragmatic signing up top to secure survival.

I think going for at least one marquee player in forward areas is necessary tbh. Both to make a statement but also to drastically improve the team where it is currently weakest. The hardest and most expensive signings to make are those in the forward areas.
