Consultant.. the length of that is whatever the club wants it to be.

Perhaps they spoke with him and then the guy from Brighton and realised quickly not to waste time there.

Anyones guess. Not necessarily a bad thing though

So today’s transfer gossip…

Newcastle United are expected to resume talks with Sevilla next week over the signing of 28-year-old Brazilian centre-back Diego Carlos.

Newcastle have had a bid of more than 40 million euros (£33.4m) for 20-year-old French defender Benoit Badiashile turned down by Monaco.

Newcastle are pushing ahead with attempts to sign Napoli's 27-year-old Germany winger Robin Gosens, who has been out injured since September.

West Ham face stiff competition from Newcastle for Manchester United's England midfielder Jesse Lingard, who will be out of contract in the summer. Lingard impressed on loan at West Ham last season, but Newcastle are willing to pay £3m to sign the 29-year-old this month.

Manchester United value 29-year-old England centre-back Phil Jones at £15m, with Burnley and Newcastle interested in a move.

We've completely fell for the "You need to know the league" BS that dictates PFM culture. Howe said young foreign strikers aren't what we need and Wood is. We should get Blas since that agency at least work with us but we'll probably want PL experience again.

Did Howe actually say this?

Of course not man.

People just making their agendas.

Surely we aren't going to attract any high class players now the position we are in. It was hard enough before yesterday..

We definitely can, we just have to stump up in order to do so.

Overpaying for fee’s, wages and include release clauses.

Short term money aside I just can't see how its going to be a good career move for a player

Someone like Carlos. Playing at a team 2nd top of la liga. Comes here trebles his wages for 6 month then we go down. Wheres he going from there ? Just can't see how it's attractive to a player because of the league table

Someone pays the release clause in such a situation. Either that or he takes his 3x salary In the championship for a season.

In terms of potential trophies he would certainly take a hit but he’d be much richer it.

This thread suddenly died out a bit. Started well the first week, then came the Cambridge match and the Watford match and now one suddenly became a little more indifferent.

Steer clear of wrecks from other PL clubs.

Shelvey is not playing bad to be fair but a combative DM who plays his role would make a big difference to our team.

He's always there or there abouts when defending that area, and does apply pressure quite well but doesn't have the skillset to dispossess like a true DM can.

A CD, followed by a DM should be our absolute priorities, but a RW should be in the mix too to give us a bit of attacking balance.

Cunt of a time for players of genuine quality,  we pinned to much on this window and are looking for blame.

The blame lies with 1 cunt Ashley , end of .

Relegation looks assured and I bet we still have Lascelles and Co here in the Championship as well.

Urgh

Shelvey was horrific yesterday. His worst game under Howe. Longstaff’s just pointless.

Aye, it’s rancid. We must have the worst midfield in the league.

Probably do - the 2 CMs and RW just kill us

and not having a 10 - it’s the route cause to all our failings IMO

Definitely, a functioning midfield is pivotal. The fact our midfield literally excels at nothing is a disaster.

They can’t pass, they can’t dribble, they can’t find good space, they can’t mark. They completely hopeless.

We would be better served getting 2-3 midfielders and just 1 cb rather than 2 cb’s.

Spot on - Jan 31st will tell us if they are actually aware of this - it’s so bleating obvious
