Hugo Ekitike (not playing for Liverpool for a while)

We lost out on delap, then lost out on JP, could possibly miss out on Ekitike,  what's Sesko upto? We could pivot to him, we did look at him before didn't we? @KaKa

Cos 100m euros is a bit much i would think.

Yeah, we've been linked to a lot of strikers over the past few months. Sesko included too.

We just need to wait for all this drama and noise to subside.

We'll get someone in eventually, and I'm pretty certain it will be someone really good.

So liverpool have supposedly told frankfurt they will pay more than us for ekitike. 😂 Yet no bid if I was ekitike I'd tell my agent to tell Liverpool to fuck off with attempts that could scupper a deal with us.

And then be stuck at frankfurt all because Liverpool don't want us getting him.

Which is why I want us to make a 'take it or leave it' offer by the end of the week. We can't afford to get bogged down in another quagmire this summer like we did with Guehi.

The release clause fee is fair, offer them that and maybe a wee bit more and if Liverpool beat that then fair play to them, he's all yours.

I'm happy knowing that if we have the capacity to drop around 70-80 on one player then we'll be able to address all the other positions of need this summer.

Before this story broke, a RCB and another CM were higher on the priority list than back up striker anyway.

If you meet the release clause they have to accept. Why would either team pay one penny more?

When I said a wee bit more I meant throw in a Lindesfarne CD, a novelty book about Geordie Slang, a copy of Grundys Wonders on VHS and an annual pass for Woodhorn Colliery

Feels like there's been a huge media push regarding Liverpool going for Isak for months now that culminated with them making their move yesterday.

Today was eerily quiet with lots of rehashing of the same information from yesterday. And claims Liverpool are going to come in for Ekitike.

I think they'd have been hoping it would all rattle Newcastle and Isak in particular, but still no word of him being unsettled or outright asking to leave or handing in a transfer request.

We're now slowly starting to see them linked with Watkins and Mateta again.

Not sure it's worked out like they hoped.

Oh, well that makes much more sense.   :smugdog:

Isn’t there an attacking midfield out there for around £80m we can sign and then give Hugo and his agent and Liverpool the finger.

Probably but its not an attacking midfielder we're after.

If I were us. I'd say something like: "Don't worry Alex, we value you massively, we intend on giving you a new contract and in the future if you want a move to a proper big club, we won't stand in your way."

I don't think its unreasonable at all to explain not selling to a rival, especially one that did a lot to keep us held back as a club and thus would do the same to us without skipping a beat, to a player on that proviso we'd not do the same for a club overseas in a years time.

I think this lad fits what howe likes in his players an ability  to play all across the forward positions aswell as maybe a possible number 10.

These other players names been thrown about cannot do that.

Fair enough but few clubs play with two strikers these days as it leaves the midfield light on numbers.

Howe must rate him massively. He doesnt miss on transfers. Would be a killer if the scousers got him cos the pool of talent is so small

When Hugo originally left psg I wonder why we never made a move for him at 15 million. Surely we would've had that type of money lying about.

We had no money at all, even for the loan fee.

We had to desperately sell Anderson and Minteh before July that year.

The ridiculosity of PSR. Couldn't buy the same player for £15m because of it and could end up paying £80m a year later. Way to keep fees down and make sure clubs do smart business.
