Hugo Ekitike (not playing for Liverpool for a while)

Recommended Posts

Im trying to read between the lines here.

Are frankfurt the ones leaking stuff, to try and Newcastle to pay more money?

If Liverpool are interested fine, pay the money and get him. I dont see the need for the nonsense.

The Isak stuff is wasted breath. We wont sell him. Why do they keep pushing that talk? It wont unsettle him, at least not enough to stress us out.

It gives him a bigger bargaining chip at the contract table and in turn in might force us to cash in next summer but we already knew that.

A load of guff about nowt.

Am I over simplifying the situation here?

If these 3 things are true

- We want to keep Isak, for least 1 more season, or get him to sign a new long term contract

- We genuinely want to sign Ekitike now, this window and are prepared to pay between £70m - rumoured release clause, and have agreed personal terms

- Isak is Liverpools number 1 target, and Ekitike is their 2nd

Then what’s actually holding this up?

If we've lodged a second bid to Frankfurt that meets the 'informal' release clause, but they’re hoping Liverpool will enter the race and spark a bidding war, and Liverpool can’t get Isak this summer, then why haven’t they made a move yet? What exactly are they waiting for? Us to shit ourselves and accept £120m?

I just can’t see a scenario where we’re sitting here waiting for Frankfurt, Frankfurt are waiting for Liverpool, and Liverpool are waiting for Isak.

If nothing happens, then we are clearly the happier out of the 3 clubs by retaining Isak.

I'd absolutely love it if we've been working on another striker for the last week, Mateta for arguments sake, and we wrap that up tomorrow and we walk away from Ekitike/Isak move completely

Aye that would be very funny

This whole situation is exhausting now.

It’s time to move on from Hugo, give Isak the new contract he deserves, and tell the Scousers exactly where to go.

Then go out and sign another talented young player who actually wants to be here - someone with the right attitude, like Elanga.

The crazy part? None of this would even be a conversation if Liverpool and the rest of the cartel hadn’t put these anti-competitive systems in place to rig the playing field in their favour.

We’re the wealthiest club in the world, yet somehow still being dictated to by a group of self-serving, gatekeeping clubs.

Fuck them all!

Aye it'll definitely unsettle him like, but I'm still in the 'he's not going anywhere this summer regardless what happens' camp.

Smokescreen/atomic bomb for Mbeumo now its falling through at Man U

No thanks. He made it clear he wants Man Utd, which makes me heavily question the sort of character he is.

He can go and rot at Man Utd or stay and rot at Brentford, as far as I'm concerned.

Everything is coming from the scouse cunts end, and not a peep coming from our end. The two 'alleged transfer ITKs', have shown where there butter is spread and made themselves look rather stupid these last couple of days,

I swear everyone on here used to fawn all  over Ornstein- lots of 'I'll believe it when I see an Ornstein tweet'. Soon changes when he's saying something we don't like - now he's just a shill for Liverpool

Some of us have been saying he's on the grift for over a year now.

I dont think it will. Hes going to have no issues finding a club when hes ready but he can do much better than Liverpool. He'll be professional.

I think Liverpool are worried Ekitike is too much of a high spend and aren't willing to back a big bid like we are. Their number one target will be Isak and the links with Watkins, Mateta etc make a lot of sense as they'll make do with one of those lads for a year before getting Isak next summer if we're digging our heels in.

Therefore, they're pretending to have an interest in Ekitike to both force the price we pay up and to try and force our hand to buy Isak's replacement, as they know either way (sell now or sell next summer) we're unlikely to want to enter the market for his replacement with £150m or so in our pocket, as we'll end up paying an inflated fee for someone inferior.

The only risk for them is Isak signs a new deal after we get Ekitike. But, you'd imagine he'll have been sounded out over the move and might have given it a 'Marc Guehi' straight bat from last summer - i.e. willing to do the move but not going to agitate for it.

Maybe some people look closer when it affects them.

I know we apparently only work on one deal at a time, but really hope we have alternatives being worked on in the background. I’d take that lad from Porto.

I just hope we are getting a defender and Trafford sorted. If the weekend comes and goes and we miss out here, it’s back to being a pretty shoddy window. I know there’s time left, but those first 3-4 games are tough and at the end of the season 9-12 points is going to potentially cover a fair few places, we need players settled and established.

Whole thing is embarrassing from Liverpool. They simply aren't used to being told no and are acting like a spoilt kid.

If they truly want Ekitike go and pay his release clause you've just announced to everyone you have £120m sitting around for a striker, you'd even have some change left over. They've banked on Isak kicking up a fuss and trying to force a move through because who wouldn't want to play for Liverpool?

Said pretty much what I said several posts back, albeit more succinct 😂
