Hugo Ekitike (not playing for Liverpool for a while)

Recommended Posts

I really hope at this stage that nobody is expecting anything other than the inevitable... that he will join Liverpool.

We've been here before.

Im now more interested in where our next move is.

With how long we take to do deals, i think its highly unlikely we get all them tbh.

But here you see a win-win for me.

If the club succeed, we’re all happy with a strengthened squad.

If they fail? Well, good luck to you Mr. nepo-baby Howe.

To be fair it’s good that Liverpool got Ekitike now and therefore out of the Isak race next year, thus increasing our chance of extending his contract

What the hell is up with some of you? They don’t have him yet. That alternative universe must be exhausting.

Since the start time of the year we've been linked with so many top young forwards in some form or fashion.

We clearly want another really good young forward option to both interchange with and partner Isak in different setups.

The difference between Newcastle and both Chelsea and Liverpool is that we already have a certified number 1 striker in place.

I'm really starting to think we're just working our way through a list of options and drawing out interest from the other clubs, until they've taken who they want, so we can then move for who is still available, and who will then likely come at a more reasonable price once there are less clubs still looking to get a striker.

With Isak already established at the club, we don't need to battle with Chelsea or Liverpool for a striker.

We now have Delap, Pedro and perhaps Ekitike all snapped up.

There have been links with Sesko, Aghehowa, Woltemade, Kalimuendo etc. Let's see who's next that we go for. These other clubs can't sign everyone.

Keeping Isak is the priority, and adding to him with someone else, and so Liverpool getting Ekitike will go a long way to ensuring that happens.

In fairness, its not the offer bit which is a worry.

It's the "Ekitike only wants Liverpool" tweet inevitability.

Once that happens, its game over.

Our only hope is that Liverpool cant finance it and that's a slim hope.

He’s got a cracking agent, I’ll give him that.

If we do miss out, it’ll be interesting to see what our move is. Go big again or reallocate the funds to get a different level of player in one or two positions?

And for some on here, Constantly bracing yourself for disappointment isn’t a strategy that’s exactly working well.

Is "bracing yourself for disappointment" even a strategy?

Ya reckon we'd be pretty much done in the market if we got Hugo?

Not at all. We’ll be tickling £200M when all’s said and done.

We can't be. Nowhere near strong enough for all the games we'll play next season. A CB is a must. An attacking CM too.

I just hope we are aware of his intentions already and have either moved on or firmly think we can do the deal.
