Mattoon
Anyone know how a loan fee pertains to FFP? Amortisation would surely be the full amount after the loan period expires?

Not 100% but I would imagine the loan fee would go down as operational expenditure as it’s got no value whilst permanent signings are classed as capital expenditure which depreciate over the length of the contract. gazza ladra
Surprised by the fond memories of Marveaux. He was impressive when compared with Obertan, but otherwase meh. Was quite sad about seeing Merino go.

Yep. 158 PL appearances with 29 goals (9 of those coming last year with West Ham) and 14 assists. 290 appearances in all competitions in total with 56 goals. toon25
He'd be daft not to come here, to be honest. He's had another 6 months of sitting on his arse and by the time it gets to the end of the season and he's still at Manure that purple patch at West Ham will be a distant memory. Given that he'd then be 30, I couldn't imagine too many clubs wanting to take him for the wages he'd be after.
DMLeazesender
He's fighting for his England place so might be inspired by Trippier joining.

Trippier will help get Southgate to our matches. Lingard has already scored more league goals this season than Jadon Sancho, who is off form and barely playing. You'd have to think that England place is up for grabs. In the PL, Lingard's 29 goals and 18 assists are more impressive when you realize they've come in 100 full games' of minutes (just under 9000). He has scored twice in 90 mins on the pitch this year.
Stottie
As a final point, Lingard only has to do it against teams like Villa and Palace who'll be entering beach mode. With the bottom four so bad so far, most of the league can put their feet up already. We're not asking for CL level performances here.

LFEE
£3.5m plus full wages seems sensible deal for rest of the season. Think he might surprise a few if we get him.
NE27
Wouldn't be my personal choice, but he's lightyears ahead of what I thought we could attract and is undeniably talented when motivated, as seen at WHAM. Bring him in and let's get the feel good factor building!
ponsaelius
He was brilliant on loan at West Ham last season. Lingard is one of these players who's sort of wasted his career being a bit part player at a top club when he could have been a genuine star for a lesser team. It's understandable because it's his club but still seems a bit of a shame.
r0cafella
The reported 10mil loan fee makes this difficult. I wonder if they are trying to structure this up j a way whereby lingard is obligated to sign permanently if we stay up.

I guess so, but would also mean a lot of players' careers have really tanked overnight. Even with Lingard having a resurgence towards end of this season and into the next, it's a huge thought to think he can be starting for England. If he can even go that would be a huge achievement. Plenty of players, on form that would be ahead of him even if he was playing like he was at West Ham. Next England game is at end of March. He's barely kicked a ball since end of last season; for him to be in that squad he should be playing now to at least to a standard you're seeing out of someone like Bowen, let alone getting ahead of establish squad players. Far from a given that he'll ever find the form he showed at West Ham again, certainly not straight away hitting the ground running again - that's even if he bothers to get himself out of Man U this week.
