I wouldn't go as far to say that he's carrying this team but I also think we'd be absolutely fucked if we lost him for any length of time. Nobody could come in and do what he does.

Going over old history, but it seems like the Staveley plan to get through PSR was to sell Bruno to PSG or Man City. When it didn't happen, it cost us the Geordie Maradona and Minteh, but I think not losing Bruno was more important. It would have fucked us as a team.

Him or Gordon - Gordon was offered to Liverpool by many accounts in the press.

I may be wrong but my impression was that the "sell Gordon" stuff came out after Bruno's transfer clause expired with no-one activating it. Selling Bruno was Plan A. My reading of the situation is that Man City dropped the ball by not signing him. Hindsight following the Rodri injury makes it doubly so.

I don't think we wanted to sell Bruno, we just knew the contract had a clause and we clearly had a deal with Bruno that it someone meets the clause. Gordon was the oh shit we have to sell someone fast but I think what Liverpool were offering wasn't deemed acceptable. The rest is history if you will.

Indeed, he’s gotten to the point where even in games where he’s not on it he still contributes in a massive way with a goal or assist. His corners are deadly as well

What a guy. We do feel over reliant on him this year though. 11 goal contributions this season in the league.

 7 goals and 2 assists, isn’t it?

EDIT: Just checked and it is. 2 assists in the Carabao and all. So 11 g&a in total.

Not too shabby.

I don't remember him being replaced lately.
When was the last time he was subbed or rested ?

I think that's very risky from Howe
Understandable though, considering the poor form before burnley match

He’s played the full 90mins in eight consecutive matches. Came on at HT against Spurs in early December. God forbid he ever gets injured.

He needs to be taking those left sided inswingers every time. Just gives the keeper a whole load of other stuff to worry about.

Only drawback with him being Captain is not seeing him go mental in a raging Tony Montana sort of way on the opposition players anymore

Loved that right hook/club on Ugarte at home v Psg,Just came from outta nowhere but must have been verbals previously,Let him know who the Guvnor was,Underrated moment.

That Arsenal game when he started on all of them after the coward havertz decided he'd do Burn late again was the moment he became Mr Newcastle for me

Was he the first to celebrate tackles like 90th winners too? Cant recall anyone else before him

I was wondering this too. Spread across the whole league, he's def the first I remember seeing doing it. Not just in big games either, any old match.
