Menace
Surely can play for another few seasons considering it's never been pace he relies on?
The Butcher
Burn made the goal with his run, leaving Gusto in no mans land. Absolutely love that he made that run. Another CB would've moved back towards his own goal. Cracking attacking mentality. Love owt like that.

Optimistic Nut
Is it fair to say the Botman injury last year rescued his career? It was getting sad seeing him left-back starting to get torn apart by some pretty average RWs and mistakes creeping in. Ever since he's went back to LCB when Botman got the long layoff he's been absolutely outstanding.

He's been an absolute mountain back there 100% - his performances have been consistent through out. Edited May 12 by duo
The College Dropout
He’s been better at CB than when he first joined.

Dunno, those first games he played when he signed he was outstanding and in a much worse team than this one. It gets overlooked just how good he was and how immediately transformative it was for our defence.
The College Dropout
I remember at least 2 goals he just got done by some good movement from an attacker. A goal conceded against Chelsea by Havertz springs to mind. He was great but - he was one of the weakest links. This season - he’s been our best central defender. He wasn’t better than Schar in those 6 months. He’s been better than Schar easily. Been better on the ball. A bigger aerial threat. He’s gone to another level. I wouldn’t have thought then we could get CL with a BurnxSchar defence

Zero
I would say Tonali has been the best player for us this season BUT that header in the Final is something we all remembered till the day we die. So Burn is the player of the season for me.
wiseman
Yeah got to say, while Tonali transformed us into another level, Burn had barely put a foot wrong, and done so much to get us to where we are, his mentality and love for the club you can tell is infectious and I feel he embodies the club more then anyone. The way he demanded the free kick be given to him before he sets up Bruno's goal shows a level of confidence amongst such top class players i don't think he would've had a few seasons back, and his goal in the final i don't think I'll ever forget. Absolutely love Big Dan Burn, and would love to see him rewarded with player of the season this year

Drags the ball back and then plays it with the outside of his foot, defender was not ready for that shit from Burny.
alexf Posted Tuesday at 23:34 Share Posted Tuesday at 23:34 Have to admit last year I was one of those droning on about not playing him left back. I don't think I was criticizing Burn personally, more Eddie for not recognising that it was a massive weakness for us and whilst long term he has probably been proven right not to have thrown Hall in the deep end. Clearly this year we can see the difference it's made slotting Burn into his more natural position and bringing in Hall as the starting left back. Wouldn't begrudge calls for him winning player of the year, just out of pure consistency every game this year, necessity to hold the defense together along with Schar in the wake of Botman and Lascelles injury problems and ofcourse that cup final performance. Whilst Isak and Tonali are our most talented players, there is something to be said for the likes of Burn and Murphy who have maximised their output this year despite maybe having a lower ceiling in terms of outright talent. Frankly Posted Wednesday at 09:31 Share Posted Wednesday at 09:31 The secret with Dan Burn is that he looks like our weakest player but he is far from it. Eddie Howe knew what he wanted doing when he played him at left back. Opposition managers would target him not realising that he is strong, deceptively quick and with long legs. Wingers could not find a way around him and meanwhile we were scoring at the other end. Unfortunately it’s no longer a secret within the game (see England call up) but seems to be unrecognised by some on here.

The College Dropout Posted Wednesday at 09:39 Share Posted Wednesday at 09:39 He was our weakest link at LB. He's not looked a weak link at CB at all this season. Everyone down that right side of the pitch has looked a weak link at points this season. Including Schar.

Stal Posted Wednesday at 09:57 Share Posted Wednesday at 09:57 He's my player of the season. Tonali is still young and will get those accolades but how often will Burn have the chance after the season he's just had?
