Looked dangerous and out of control to me. He was never getting the ball and didn’t need to slide in; he chose to do so.

That Reinaldo (sic), Brobby and Ballard all give out in snidey challenges yet hoy themselves to ground at the slightest contact. Miley got a naughty one on his ankle and also got charged elbow first in the back.

We didn’t lose because of this but it’s a large part of how they play. I was going mental at some of this yesterday; they’ve clearly been told to do this.

Totally agree. O0

And yet we made him play on a couple of minutes rather than haul him straight off…

Just another example of PIF being cheapskates, our on-pitch medical team doesn't even have x-ray machines with them.

Punctured lung. Six weeks out. Sack the medics.

🤣 You guys… honestly. Absolutely mental.

It’s almost impossible to know how much damage has been caused by an injury like that until you try to play on.

I know this because I had an almost identical injury about 3 years ago… went up for a header, was flipped mid air and landed on my side on top of someone. Very painful, winded, couldn’t breathe properly for a couple of minutes, but then I felt like I could continue. After about 15 mins I could tell something was properly wrong, and I was struggling to breathe properly. Went to the hospital that night and had punctured my lung.

Very painful, but not something that can be easily diagnosed on the pitch at the time.

Anecdotally, I was back playing within around a month, so hopefully it will be similar for Dan.

Fucking medical staff. Useless again.

That must have been a terrible night’s sleep for the big fella. Suffering on all levels. Glad there wasn’t any serious internal organ damage. Apparently Shay Given keeled over, and would have died without medical intervention, following a similar injury:

“Internal bleeding (2006): In a match for Newcastle against West Ham, Given suffered a severe abdominal injury after a collision with Marlon Harewood. A specialist compared the internal damage to that caused by hitting a steering wheel in a car crash, and Given later revealed the injury could have been fatal if the internal bleeding had leaked during their flight back to Newcastle.”

Good job this slow passive play is reducing risks of an injury crisis.

Bit of a nonsense thing to say, nothing can guarantee against injuries. Especially freak ones like this.

Exactly. Which makes the passive approach pointless as full throttle or not, injuries happen.

We’re now one head injury (which Schar 100% will have now he’s back starting games) from who partnering Thaiw at CB? Tino? And then Murphy RB? Joelinton CB?

Schar won't miss games due to head injuries unless forced.  I don't know if you have watched him play for us.  He's like the undertaker.
