Aye, Everton won't keep that up for the remainder of the season whereas we'll continue with what we've been doing the past few weeks, some huge players to come back into the fold as well.

Keep what up though?  Everton were awful.  No shape whatsoever and basically running aimlessly around for most of the time.  We should have stuffed them but we weren't good enough on the night, simples.

We didn't actually create that many real chances. Seems like we are only really good at defending in reality.

Well by 'chances', I meant getting in or around the box. Not hugely often, but I would have thought a more developed team would have found the net with that.

The intensity that they played with. They pressed all game and stopped us getting a foothold in the game.

We had a few players who played poorly who were rightly replaced but for the main part the majority of our players weren't exactly Bruce era levels poor were they, we just couldn't settle and get into any real rhythm, that was because of hoe they played from what I saw.

And while I'm still annoyed, I wish to add my displeasure at Dubravka.  Christ!  Make it easy for the goalscorer why don't you?  Awful positioning.

He’s shite. Has been for ages. We’ll get a top keeper in the summer should we stay up. I’d clear the lot out and bring in some decent young backup as well.

Haven’t read the post match gloom.

Very poor performance, bordering on stupid .We need to learn to take it easy manage the game and fuck off with an easy point .

Another game we didn’t need to send on ASM for me but I get why he did but again it’s lead to defeat whichever way you dress it up .

Ironically them going down to ten men made things worse for us as they started sitting deep.

We have absolutely zero creativity higher up the pitch as far as incisive passing goes.

Bruno definitely has the ability in spades, but he was being used in that deeper position today, and I just don't think it benefits us enough if we go with that approach with the way the team is currently constructed.

Unfortunately he's not wrong though.

Can't be wasting opportunities like what we had tonight. It was so terrible.

Aye but Southampton had only lost once at home until we turned up. Probably not many saw that as an opportunity. Results are often unpredictable at this stage of the season. We'll pick up more points along the way.

So much has been really positive so far. We need to keep that mindset up and not let knocks along the way affect us too much.
Totally understandable that we panic a little when we have a set back.

I wouldn't really be hard on yourselves too much. You were shit for the first time in about 2 months, and still comfortably the better team in the first half. We were, and still are shit, just took our most presentable chance for once. The fact it became an appallingly bad game suited us better in the end.

We're by no means suddenly now safe, we need at least 3 more wins and I'm still not sure where they're coming from. Can only hope we build on this but we should have built on beating Leeds then proceeded to lose 5 in a row, so yeah.

That's probably the worst Newcastle have played since Eddie Howe took control, yet we still outplayed Everton.  They have serious problems and making ridiculous loud music rallying call to arms isn't going to help and was embarrassing really.  However your fans were loud tonight.

Thoughts on Lampard?

I thought we just saw tonight what we are - a limited set of players with a couple of potential diamonds who as a collective have outperformed the sum of their parts for 2 months and looked knackered with one game too many.

3 away games in 10 days, 2 of which were long trips is tough for anyone.

we refresh, get spurs out of the before 4 games we should get 7 points from. And relax.

a good reminder that we do need 5-6 new first teamers tonight

Needs time which we currently don't have. Speaks extremely well and in time I think will make a good, even a very good manager. Still very naive (Spurs away was top class banter) but if we stay up and if we can clear a decent chunk of the deadwood, I'd be optimistic we can make some kind of progress next season. The first bit is still however a big if, the latter part even moreso.

Still bitterly disappointed with that result. Losing to a team with 10 men just feels inexcusable. I'm not gonna throw my toys out the pram too much, just really thought the game was there for the taking. Oh well, bit of a break to recharge.

Let's play.

Aren't you guys in a bit of a pickle with FFP rules also?

Nice 3pts for you guys that were desperately needed.

It’s more than a little. It’s clear from pre-match threads that some have been completely traumatised by the Ashley years and haven’t quite shaken that mindset off yet.
