Can anyone remember the advert in the chronicle for a slightly soiled SAFC tracksuit after the 5-1? Sure the telephone number was like 0191 515151 or something 😂

Championship side Sunderland have sacked head coach Tony Mowbray after 15 months in charge.

The Black Cats have won just two of their past nine Championship games and have slipped to ninth, having made the play-offs last season.

Mowbray took over at Sunderland in August last year after Alex Neil left the club to join Stoke City.

"This was a difficult decision to make," sporting director Kristjaan Speakman told the club website.

"But we remain loyal to our ambition and our strategy, and felt that now was the right moment to take this step.

"We are now focused on identifying the right candidate and we will continue to support our coaching team and players throughout the interim period."

Mowbray wouldn’t have got them promoted so it’s a brave decision by their board. They must have someone lined up you would think. In no way should this make a difference to the derby. This isn’t 2015.

Surely none of them agree with the decision? 3 points off play off spots, what exactly is that young owner expecting of them, they got into the play offs on goal difference just last season.

RTG seems mainly shocked and quite a few unhappy with it. Wonder if they'll go the trendy German coach route.

What completely unrealistic names will they come up with as replacement. Potter? Cooper?

They could take Howe from us if they really wanted tbh marra. Can probably do better anyway tho. It's the family club vibes that really sells itself.
