He was rated highly prior to his move to Roma tbf, remember some suggesting we sign him a couple of years ago as his fbref profile was quite impressive However, that was based on Ligue 1, got his big move to Roma and it hasn't worked out for him Still a bit of a coup for a Championship club to get him but I guess it makes sense from his point of view as he'll either be playing PL football with them or if he does well then a better side will pick him up Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

Erm... anyone confirm this? As I only see us being the current form team in the PL and (checks cupboard) I don't appear to need any more bog roll. Surely if he was half decent there'd be bigger clubs interested in him. He's signed for Sunderland because of the coach and has hardly played for a while apparently. I know absolutely zero about the kid but if Sunderland had had to pay the £16m (?) for him, that Roma paid, he'd be their all time 2nd highest signing, EVER, after NDong. Roma are having a pretty poor season and this fella has managed just six league appearances. If they're looking to get rid of him and he's a decent player he would have decent options. If he had decent options he wouldn't really be wanting to play in our second division in a half empty stadium. There again he's currently rated at £15M but if he's moving to a team with several players rated in the £40M plus bracket and a few generational talents then maybe it's a good move for him to be rubbing shoulders with players like that to try and get his career back on track.
