Will be surprised if that bloke makes it past security.

You'd imagine everyone at security will be stopping him to tell him how class their away kit is. The security staff will also be stopping him to tell him how they secretly wish it was called Newcastle & Sunderland Airport.

If somehow he does make it past security, the duty free staff will be all over him asking where he got the shirt from as it's so class they should be selling it.

If he somehow manages to get through there, you'd imagine fans of evey other club using the airport will be stopping him to buy him a drink to congratulate Sunderland being back in the Premier League.

If he does make it on board, you'd imagine there's a good chance the pilot will then let him fly the plane.

He will get clapped onto the plane

How to contradict yourself in 50 words. Thick fucker 🤣🤣

It's quite a good summing up actually. Never in my 58yrs have I approached a derby thinking "not fussed about getting beat just don't want to be humiliated". In all those years it feels like we've always had more to lose.

Would make our recruitment team look like a right bunch of whoppers if any of them turn out to be good.

Got fuck all to do with that, it's the fact he says winning would mean twice as much and then finishes it with it's not the same feel now really

Not that I think they will FWIW. Before anyone starts hurling abuse at me for doubting our scouts.

I reckon they've spent big to secure players who are ok but most ambitious teams would not really consider.

Are they actually ok though? One player who was kicked out at Roma nearly as quickly as they signed him and a player who apart from Leeds, had no other clubs interested in him.

It possibly would. There's an element of relief for us. They'll have beat a club they see as their superior, like a giant killing. It's why their ground is full of photos against us, its why their best moments involve us.

I just assumed that £20-30m price tags meant they were unlikely to be dogshit. But who knows? The mackems might have to pay double just to persuade anyone to venture into the wastelands.

Those prices are pretty low prices nowadays in the Premier League League

That's because (dont take this the wrong way) but our fans still haven't got to grips with how much players cost in 2025.

20-30m gets you a decent player these days, discounting the odd Huijsen deal of course.

We only signed Botman/Bruno 3 seasons ago and they were 35+ish IIRC, both of whom would cost us 50 now, in the same situation.

We've been linked with Scalvini for 30m which i can't imagine for a second is accurate. If we get him for that we've done Atlanta dirty IMO.

To sum up, them signing a couple of 20+ers means they've linked signed a couple of decent players but they are likely 6/7 players short of what they will need to survive.

I agree with you actually. I was watching a podcast discussing Elanga, and all three of these guys was saying he wasn't worth more than £45m, if that. These are Newcastle fans as well.

We paid £20m+ for Almiron back in the Ashley days, and supposedly over £40m for Joelinton who was barely known at the time. I think people are really out of touch.

If we get him for that I'd wonder if the injuries had long after effects/left weaknesses.

He's basically saying they're the lower league cup underdog with nothing to lose. Where's he wrong is that that's always been the dynamic, give or take a few games in the last 40year, and why more of us hate that fixture and more of them, even when they were getting battered, lke it

Or he has something hanging over his head, à la Sandro

Maybe that's part of a new strategy, sign players about to serve a significant ban, end up with a worldie in 12 months time ;)

I don't I've been watching the Derby since the 70s, so seen everything you can. The easiest game out of all of those was the last game. The gap in the two teams was there in every position on the pitch. Since I'm fully expecting them to struggle to beat Derby's record, I'm looking forward to the two games, as I think we will absolutely batter them (as will most teams).

Splashing the cash like confetti; thought that wasn’t allowed. These money clubs hoovering up all the talent. Better get their Passports renewed and get that pop up club tent back up at that airport they own.
