We’ve had worse players but he was just a bellend. Didn’t like him one bit. The fact he wanted to come but wouldn’t hand in a transfer request to Man City, so we ended up having to pay an extra £300k on the fee was a cunt’s trick. Then there’s getting himself sent-off at Liverpool and missing the crucial run-in, just to put one on Xabi Alonso. He had a good 5 months spell when Carroll was on fire and he was out on the right, but the cult support he has is a bit weird.

You’ve missed out the worst part!

Getting locked up for 3 months?

Trying to punch Shearer?

Cigar was the worst thing he ever did [either that or Question Time]. Driving the team back from 0-4 against Arsenal was the best.

I’m sure he was teetotal , as he had turned it round because of his sins in the past? Talked about it multiple times...

Now posts beer all over his Instagram and there was rumours of drunken fighting on his stag do

Just a billy bullshitter

From Football 365. Top of the Premier League non-champions table.

"Newcastle (360 days)

Last day top of the Premier League – August 13, 2007

It is almost impressive to spend five days short of an entire year at the top of the Premier League without ever actually winning it. Newcastle have been top of the Premier League for a longer total time than two winners (Blackburn, 238 days, and Leicester, 187 days), as well as being at the summit almost three times as long as Tottenham (50 days), Bolton (38 days), Everton (38 days) and West Ham (1 day) combined.

It all started with Kevin Keegan’s infamous title races – and collapses – but the baton was gamely picked up by Sir Bobby Robson, and even Sam Allardyce at the start of the 2007/08 season. Oh, those heady early days under Mike Ashley’s ownership."

Did we not top the league for  a few hours after we beat the mackems in august 2011?

He nearly joined Real Madrid or peak Leeds the season before it all clicked. That was a time we would fight to keep our best players (same with Dyer).
