Stottie
Two glamorous signings would do me, say Maddison and that Kim Jae CH or a good DM We had a strong second half to the season and got to a major cup final, so the team is strong and only lacks depth or plan B options. Keep the faith!
J7
Two big signings and some bargains is hardly the worst thing in the world. I think it was the Tifo podcast recently that talked about us following a similar pattern to early Klopp Liverpool that was pretty much this.
Scoot
Anyone reckon they've been briefed to tone it down after both Hope and Edwards put out articles not long ago saying we're after 5 or 6 players, we will spend 150 million, Howe given green light to go for it this summer etc etc.. Super Duper Branko Strupar
Cant imagine we'll be blowing our load, you'd imagine we'll box clever and leave a decent chunk of kitty in reserve for the following windows, especially as we build our commercial partnerships and have less reliance on prize money to fund our progression. Geogaddi
75 million be fine with me as long as its spent properly which I have no doubt it will be, we can only spend what FFP allows and we are way ahead of schedule in terms of league position. Guest dazzanufc1892
We dropped over 60m because our striker got injured. Id say we are in a position to drop the right kind of cash if its warranted.
Ikon
Personally I would be very happy with say Arda Guler, Dominic Szoboszlai, Alcaraz and a good LB and CB that don’t necessarily need to be very expensive either if we get the right ones in. A quality LB that is more attack minded and a RCB.

Makes zero sense. I'm backing the owners 100% .. but there's no way the likes of villa will only be spending 75m.
The Prophet
Also think too many people tie net spend with the quality of the transfer window.

Villa posted a small profit in the last released accounts (due to the Grealish sale) whereas we had a £70M loss. Our revenue is so far behind Tottenham, let alone the others, and Spurs had a significant profit in the last accounts. I don't believe the £75M number, but I think our on-field performance and CL qualification has made people think we're much closer financially to the established 6 than we actually are. The Butcher
Don't care how much we spend but if we can get 6 - RB, RCB, LB, DM, AM and RW this window I'll be very, very happy. Prospects and purples.

Two midfielders. Tall. Strong. Fast. They’ll monitor the LB situation (and fast CB) also in case they only find one midfielder they want or push boat out and get all three if the opportunity arises. Cheap deal on a 3rd striker either at youthful end like Rodrygo kind of deal (£3m release) or bring an older one back on a free like Perez. Those kinds of deals. Matt1892
I can’t believe we spunked nearly 10% of our summer transfer budget on Minty. Seething.

Two big signings in a transfer window is pretty decent unless you're Chelsea, and if the bargains turn out to be anything like Pope I'll be happy with that. Guest
Am I naive to think there's not some sort of system (phone, email, the famous fax), where we say to a club, we offer £40m, will you accept?". They reply then we either up it or pull out. Just never get what is involved in 'preparing' a bid.

You contact the club, would they be willing to sell, then you discuss a deal. I imagine anyway.

They’ll go for contract renewal talks and if they say their client isn’t wanting to re-sign then I’d imagine the club say if he wants a move it will be ball park this amount. IIRC the reason we moved for Maddison it was his agent feeding us he was available for around £29m or thereabouts as a base figure then the auction began and we stopped when it went beyond £40m. Valuations are usually dictated by either contract situation or a recent high sale of a comparable player.
