Livramento, Bella-Kotchap and Alcaraz all linked. Not Ward-Prowse thankfully. No chance now since we bought Ashby but I'd have loved Livramento. He's fucking mint. We can’t attract the very best yet, but we should be recruiting the next rung down. Players with more than potential! Players who are already full internationals with room to be great! Bruno, Isak and Botman type players These Southampton lads don’t seem anywhere near that level! Lavia is

Why no chance? It’s not like we paid big money for Ashby and Livramento is younger and infinitely more proven. Super risky going into a long season with a guy that has only played a handful of top-flight games as our back-up right-back. It'd severely limit Ashby's chances, which I imagine would be contrary to what he'd expect and what we had planned. And we also have Krafth. And there's 4 or 5 positions to recruit for before we even think about RB. Just think it's a position we absolutely wont be looking at. Could be wrong, though. I'm pretty sure Livramento can play either side though, so could be a really solid upgrade on Manquillo. Sadly, there is no guarantee that Krafth will make a full recovery either
Super Duper Branko Strupar
All fair. I just expect Livramento to want to move somewhere where he's pretty much a guaranteed starter, and there'll be plenty of places that would like to offer him that I'd expect. He left Chelsea for Southampton after all. Not that Im against him coming to us, there's probably only 2 English RBs I'd prefer over him and we already have one of them. The other pushed him out of Chelsea. Edited June 6, 2023 by Super Duper Branko Strupar
Sufi
Can he be converted to LB? Otherwise it seems very unlikely.
Viana
Sans FFP I'd say we sign both, loan Ashby out and see how Livramento gets on. Have to be a bit more calculated these days.
Superior Acuña
Id be surprised if Ashby is planned to be the main back up RB yet given he was barely even on the bench, and how important a position it is for us now. Can also see Ashby being loaned out for now.

Ikon
Wonder when we'll hear something about Arda Guler. whether to us or somewhere else. Kid just turned 18 and is a born winner and doesnt feel pressure. So mature for his age both on and off the pitch. Personally i'd be happy with him coming in as our only wide player and put the rest of the money elsewhere. Within time he will probably play in a more central role. I mentioned it a week or two ago that it was being said in Turkey that him and his agent (father I think) had agreed to remove the clause that was in his contract before. Because they wanted it to feel like a decent deal for the club too. 20m is still a steal.

I think we have to roll the dice to some extent with signings. The proven players all have the long term CL clubs circling them like hyenas. We have to be a bit smart and try to recruit exciting emerging talent like Guler. Of course there's a chance they'll be duds, but equally they could go on to take the league by storm. Just look at Isak.
The Prophet
Guler feels like one of those players that goes to Dortmund, Benfica or Brighton, then ends of being bought for a ludicrous amount of money by a European giant. It'll be interesting to see if we role the dice on him or Scott, rather than pick up a more established player.
Keegans Export
We can't afford established players like Rice, Mount, Osimhen - we have to operate in that tier below and trust our scouts/coaches to turn them into elite players over time. Then we either keep them or move them on for an extortionate fee.

The likes of Guler, Scott and O'Riley,(who we've all being linked with) don't play in major European leagues, so fall into the bracket below Kone, Thuram and Ugarte in terms of pricing. You could probably pick up the three of them for the price of Thuram if rumours about his price tag are correct. These are the types of deal Brighton are being lauded for. KaKa
Donny van de Beek is leaving Man Utd and has been linked with us in the Sun, who say we tried for him in Jan. We also looked at him in the first transfer window after the takeover. Also says that he is open to the move.
