63,000 on the waiting list for season tickets at Spurs.

They do class anyone who has a membership as on the waiting list, so not really an accurate representation. Many of these will live abroad, only want to attend the odd ad-hoc game etc.

No doubt they will fill their new stadium mind.

Jaap Stam is a hilariously bitter man:

Reading FC manager Jaap Stam has told Leeds United fans to grow up ahead of Saturday's game.

The Whites supporters chanted "boring, boring Reading" during the reverse fixture in December which Royals lost 2-0.

It left Stam far from impressed in his post-match press conference where he said "you can tell something about how they are as human beings to be fair."

There is no love lost between the two clubs with Leeds supporters keen to get another win over one of their play-off rivals.

Asked if he expected a hostile reception from the visiting fans this weekend, Stam replied: "It would be nice if they come over here and instead of them being hostile we can be hostile against them.

"It should be that way around.

"But it's not being hostile. It's about supporting your own team and not being hostile against people because we're not kids anymore.

"In how we played you can say about being boring but we had 80 per cent of the ball so I don't know who's boring.

"It's about winning the game and they won with a bit of luck as well I must say."

Self-taught sculptor defends grinning Ronaldo bust

Self-taught sculptor Emanuel Santos defended his grinning bust of Cristiano Ronaldo on Thursday, telling his thousands of online detractors he had followed the soccer star's instructions down to the last wrinkle.

Santos, a 40-year-old former airport cleaner, said the Real Madrid striker had asked him to make the portrait more jovial, and had praised his efforts.

"It's impossible to please the Greeks and the Trojans, and even Jesus couldn't please everyone ... It's a matter of taste and not as simple as it seems," Santos told Globo Esporte.

Officials unveiled the bronze bust at Madeira's airport on Wednesday, triggering an onslaught of online abuse and ridicule.

Some focused on the sculpture's toothy smile, others on its close-set, bulging eyes. All questioned the accuracy of its depiction of the Portugal captain, known for his model-like looks, who was there at the unveiling.

"Cristiano was one of the last people to arrive, but I spoke with him in the VIP room," Santos said after the unveiling. "I asked him what he thought of the result and he said he liked it."

Santos said Ronaldo had sent in suggestions while he was working on the sculpture.

"He only asked for some wrinkles that give him a certain expression to his face when he laughs to be changed," the Madeira native added. "He said it made him look older and asked for it to be thinned out a bit to make it smoother and more jovial."

The sculpture was unveiled to mark Madeira's decision to name its airport "Aeroporto Cristiano Ronaldo" after its hometown star.

Ronaldo, who scored his 71st international goal for Portugal in their 3-2 defeat by Sweden on Tuesday, helped the national side to their first international title when they defeated France in the European Championships final last summer.

I mean, with the existing 3.5 CONCACAF teams, Panama have a reasonable chance. With 6 fucking teams they're nailed on to qualify. You're going to have Guatemala and Canada on the brink of qualification

On the flip side it's going to seriously limit the number of countries who can singularly host it.

Germany, France, Spain, USA, China, Japan, Russia, Mexico (at a push) will be about it. England will find a new way to miss out on hosting.
