Why not have a winter break with all these pointless international games played during that break? I mean, I'm not for or against a winter break, but the stop start nature at the start of the season is boring.

The qualifying schedule is already fairly tight as it is. The World Cup draw is in sixty days, and there currently twenty-four more spots to fill, with only eight countries qualified and there are only two more international breaks to decide everything. It seems sensible to have a few more breaks than normal for a World cup year. There is an issue with the unnecessary friendly breaks that happen even when we are far from tournaments.

Right, so take the 2 breaks in September and put them back into the Dec/Jan winter break period and add in another 2/3 fixtures over the 3/4 week break. Then you'd have your camp together for nearly a month too. I'm just musing here, certainly not pushing for it. I just hate the stop/start to the beginning of the season.
