It's like we'd be penalising ourselves? So say that was this season, our window is closed, but Serie A and La Liga start later so Roma could go £40m for Mahrez and Leicester are f***ed, Barca might go to £120m finally for Coutinho meaning they can't replace him until January, and even then anyone worthwhile is cuptied in the Champions League already. Just leave it as it is.

They could always, you know, not sell.

So then La Liga has to suffer because they have less time to find an adequate replacement for Neymar, etc. just because we kick off sooner?

Suffer.

Yeah, tough s***. Why do we have to service them?

Suffer is the wrong word, but La Liga ends later than us, starts later than us, why should they have less time to buy players? Bugger all wrong with end of August continent wide imo. It's only 2-3 weeks. Just keep it as it is.

Surprised at the overall reaction tbh. What about lower down the ladder too. Championship for example starts a week earlier than the Premier League and may not be as capable of rejecting a big bid. Let's say Burnley bid £15m last week for Wood and Leeds felt financially it was too good, does that mean they should then have to wait until January? They might see a potential SPL striker as a cheap replacement, their league sometimes starts end of July...and so on. I think it could be pretty crap.

What would the transfer window look like now without a window? Man City / Man U / other rich club could unsettle a player whenever they wanted by spreading rumors of a big move at any point during the season. It could derail smaller clubs who were doing well in the season. Is this a stupid assumption of mine?

No, it's one of the main reasons we have a window in the first place.

That's why there should be only one window per season in the summer a month long in June.

Exactly - imagine Leicester making their title tilt when up pops Chelsea/Citeh/Barca in February or March and says "How about we buy Vardy or Mahrez or Kante for stupid money?" Title challenge over...

But if they know when the window closes, surely they just make sure they complete it in that time?

Or is your argument that they have less time to do so?

If it's only the Premier League, surely you'd still be at risk of losing players to teams in other countries, and even the Football League?

Would it not put the League at a disadvantage? It would be excellent news if it was FIFA led.

The EFL are in favour of it as well and will be putting it forward to their clubs next month. The Premier League are possibly at an advantage to do it though, Real Madrid, Barca, now potentially PSG aside there isn't many clubs across Europe that could steal players away from English clubs. They have far many more clubs who will be more reliant on money coming in from English clubs that it would also be beneficial to them to close the window the same time as well.
