Clubs want to buy our good players, you can't just sell an underperforming player because we want him out of squad (more willock) Even Keegan sold Andy Cole to a rival to allow us to take the next step Different scenario as Cole was sold to upgrade to Ferdinand in the same position. Selling Barnes would be weakening our left side with either no replacement or a worse player.
toontownman Posted Sunday at 19:14 Share Posted Sunday at 19:14 Just dont see this guy as a 60m talent. Surely we can do better at that price? Not that we will likely get all three or any of them but for the price needed to buy Guehi, Elanga and Joao Pedro we could surely buy a 4th if not 5th player if alternatives were all bought abroad. The 2 players that have come out into the public just so happen to be the 2 players we know we've bid for in the past. Not saying we're not interested they're about the safest story any journo could go with. Yeah, maybe. There's a chance it's all a lot of noise being fed to local journos to throw teams off other targets.

Whitley mag Posted Sunday at 19:46 Share Posted Sunday at 19:46 (edited) Seems mixed messages to me on one hand Howe says we can’t sign established stars, yet for me that’s exactly what Pedro, Cunha and Mbeumo are with prices to match. We don’t have the income of the cartel clubs, but seem loathe to take a risk on signings like this Greek lad. The cartel clubs are quite happy to let other clubs take the risk and then pay the premium, we seem caught between two stools for me. Can’t blame a manager for not taking risks when you’re under pressure after 2 defeats these days, but we seem very risk averse with this PL experience approach. Never stops running(well if you can call what Bruno does running). Distance covered doesn't move me in terms of being defensively solid. If signing a new RCB fixes the gap between our midfield and defence then sweet, but it's major weakness on transition.

southernmag Posted Sunday at 23:50 Share Posted Sunday at 23:50 Signing a back up forward for 60m plus is not clever business IMO. We can't play the PSR victim and then make moves like this.

NSG Posted yesterday at 06:38 Share Posted yesterday at 06:38 Staggered some people see having two competent forwards as having a first choice and a back up. We’ll play nigh on 60 games next season. We saw what happened to Isak in the last third of this season when he played every game. A second striker is a must.
Sibierski Posted yesterday at 06:46 Share Posted yesterday at 06:46 Yep. If we get to UCL QFs minimum, you want Isak starting every European game. He probably can only start 75% of Prem games at best to manage that, and not having a good 2nd striker could be 12 points dropped. That’s difference from UCL qualification and finishing 8th. An outlay in a striker is worth that.

Ikon Posted yesterday at 07:24 Share Posted yesterday at 07:24 (edited) I really hope we get this done. I can see him in our side in my head already, and what he’d offer as well as the advantages he would give our other players. Could change the whole dynamic. I genuinely think he would be a transformational signing for us, especially when I genuinely believe that he has a couple of levels to go. I can see him getting to those levels rather quickly too. The more I’ve thought about it the more convinced I’ve become. Edited yesterday at 07:24 by Ikon
